Angelina County Jail Roster: Use the Live County List, Then Verify Court, Bond and Release Details

The Angelina County Sheriff’s Office operates the county jail at 2311 E. Lufkin Ave., Lufkin, TX 75901. For a current local-custody check, start with the county’s live Jail Roster. For a very recent arrest, expected release, bond question or other time-sensitive issue, call the jail at 936-634-2724 or Book-In at 936-639-8724.

Official-domain note: Angelina County’s current homepage uses angelinacounty.gov, while its official jail roster and several detailed jail pages are still served from the county’s angelinacounty.net domain. Reaching the .net roster from the .gov county homepage is normal; it is not by itself a sign that you reached a third-party inmate site.

What the Official Angelina County Jail Roster Actually Shows

The public roster is a live county page rather than a fixed article or permanent historical record. During this October 4, 2026 review, separate fetches returned different total-inmate counts, which is exactly why this guide does not hard-code a “current inmate population.” Read the total shown on the county roster when you open it.

At the list level, the roster displays name, sex, height, weight, eye color, hair color and booking date. The county itself warns that inmate information changes quickly, may contain errors, and may not reflect current information. It also explicitly states that an arrest does not mean a person has been convicted.

Use the roster for

  • Checking whether a name appears on the current county list.
  • Comparing booking date and physical descriptors when names are similar.
  • Confirming that Angelina County is the likely local custodian.
  • Deciding whether you need jail, court, bond, state or federal follow-up.

Do not use the roster as

  • A certified criminal-history report.
  • Proof of guilt or conviction.
  • A permanent archive of every prior booking.
  • A guarantee that the listed person remains physically housed in the same location at this moment.
  • A substitute for a court order or current bond verification.

How to Search the Angelina County Jail Roster

The roster is presented as an alphabetized list. Do not assume it has the same search boxes or filters as commercial inmate sites. Use the browser’s find feature when helpful and compare the full visible row before assuming you found the correct person.

Open the county roster directly

Use Angelina County’s Jail Roster or reach it from the current county homepage. Avoid starting with a copied mugshot page or cached search snippet.

Find the surname

Because the page is alphabetized, scroll to the surname or use your browser’s Find command. Try a maiden name, hyphenated version, middle name or reasonable spelling variation if the expected name is absent.

Compare the displayed identifiers

Use sex, height, weight, eye color, hair color and booking date when available to distinguish same or similar names. Do not rely on name alone.

Move to Judicial Public Access for the case or bond record

Angelina County’s Odyssey Public Access offers separate categories for Criminal Case Records, Court Calendar, Jail Records and Jail Bond Records. Use those categories when the list-level roster does not answer the legal question.

Verify before money, travel or pickup

Call the jail for current custody and release logistics. Use the proper court or clerk for hearing dates, filed charges, case status and final disposition.

Court Records: Felony, Misdemeanor and Jail Data Are Not the Same System

Angelina County’s court structure matters because the jail name does not tell you which judge or clerk controls the case. The county states that the 159th District Court and 217th District Court share concurrent jurisdiction over felony criminal cases. Its County Courts at Law have concurrent jurisdiction over misdemeanor criminal cases.

159th District Court

159th District Court

217th District Court

Shares felony criminal jurisdiction with the 159th. Phone: 936-637-0217.

217th District Court

District Clerk

Custodian of district-court pleadings and records. Courthouse: 215 E. Lufkin Ave., Lufkin. Phone: 936-634-4312. Published office hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

County Clerk distinction: Angelina County’s County Clerk page says that office no longer conducts criminal/background searches. For a criminal case, use Judicial Public Access and the court/clerk that actually owns the record rather than asking the County Clerk for a general background search.

Bond and Release: Verify the Live Jail Bond Record Before Paying

Angelina County’s Judicial Public Access has a dedicated Jail Bond Records category. That is more useful for current bond research than relying on a copied amount from a search result or old roster screenshot.

Before posting bond

  • Confirm the person remains in custody.
  • Verify the current bond amount and the specific case or cases.
  • Ask whether another warrant, hold or detainer affects release.
  • Confirm the court of jurisdiction.
  • Confirm the accepted payment or bonding route before money changes hands.
  • Do not assume posting one bond resolves every hold.

Using a bail-bond company

Angelina County has an official Bail Bond Board that regulates local licensed bail-bond businesses and publishes its current licensed-company list. Use that county list instead of an advertisement when you need to verify whether a bond company is licensed locally.

Angelina County Bail Bond Board

Release timing: payment or a court order does not guarantee an immediate exit from the building. Additional cases, holds, transportation and jail processing can affect physical release. Call the jail before arranging pickup.

Warrants: Do Not Treat a Warrant as Proof of Current Jail Custody

The Sheriff’s Office lists a dedicated Warrants contact at 936-639-8739. A warrant can exist when the person is not in jail, and a person in jail can be held for reasons other than an Angelina County warrant.

Use the court record for the legal case and the Sheriff’s warrant function for law-enforcement verification. Do not confront or attempt to detain someone based on an online result. Call 911 only for an immediate emergency.

Angelina County Jail Visitation: Current Published Schedule and Rules

Angelina County publishes separate male and female on-site visitation windows. Visits are first come, first served. Sign-up may begin 30 minutes before the session and must be completed at least 30 minutes before the end, subject to the list filling up and jail operations.

DayMale visitationFemale visitation
Tuesday7:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.6:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m.
Wednesday2:00 p.m.–5:30 p.m.12:30 p.m.–2:00 p.m.
Thursday7:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.6:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m.
Sunday8:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m.1:00 p.m.–2:30 p.m.

Time and visit limits

  • Visits are limited to 30 minutes.
  • An inmate may have up to two visits per week under the current detailed visitation page.
  • No more than two visitors may be in the visitation room at one time.
  • Contact visits are not allowed.

ID and minors

  • The detailed current page says visitors age 17+ must have valid state-issued DPS identification.
  • People under 17 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Every visitor must be logged by the visitation officer.

What to leave outside

  • Purses, handbags and cameras should be left in the vehicle under the published rules.
  • Visitors must dress appropriately.
  • Unauthorized items can result in denied visitation and possible criminal consequences.

Attorneys and ministers may be allowed visits outside the public schedule with proper identification, except during meal times. Jail emergencies can interrupt or delay public visitation, so call before a long trip.

Phone Calls, Voicemail, Messaging and Remote Video

Angelina County’s jail-information page identifies NCIC Inmate Communications as the current communications provider. It says inmates can make outgoing calls to approved family and friends; ordinary incoming calls are not received, although voicemail messages to approved inmates are supported.

Service published by the countyCounty-listed rateImportant note
Local / intrastate / interstate calls$0.16 per minuteNo connection fee listed.
Calls to Mexico$0.25 per minuteVerify the provider’s checkout terms before funding.
Other international calls$0.35 per minuteCurrent provider availability can vary by destination.
Remote video visitation$0.30The county page labels this as an additional-technology charge; verify how the provider applies the amount before purchase.
Secure inmate message$0.25 per messageCounty page lists $0.35 per attachment.

Those are county-published rates visible during this source review. Provider pricing can change, so recheck NCIC before funding. The county page directs users to the NCIC account system or 1-800-943-2189.

Privacy: ordinary jail calls and electronic communications should not be treated as confidential attorney-client channels. Ask counsel or jail staff about the approved confidential legal-communication route when legal privacy matters.

Angelina County Jail Mail: Personal Mail Is Scanned Off-Site

Angelina County uses a mail-scanning system for non-privileged, non-legal personal mail. The county says personal mail is sent to a processing address in Longview, scanned, and delivered electronically to the inmate through the facility kiosk/tablet system.

Personal mail address

Inmate Name
SO#
Angelina County Jail
PO Box 591
Longview, TX 75606

Use the inmate’s booking/identifying SO number and include the sender’s return address.

Current published limits

  • Mail must fit within 8.5 × 11 inches.
  • No more than five pages per mailing.
  • Write on the front side only; material written on the back is returned.
  • Maximum one photo per mailing.
  • More than one photo causes the entire mailing to be returned.
  • Magazines, newspapers, bulk mail and books are not accepted at the scanning PO box.
Legal and medical mail are different: the county explicitly says legal and medical mail should not be sent to the Longview scanning address. Those items must be sent to the facility where the inmate is housed under the Sheriff’s mail guidelines. Call the jail before sending sensitive or irreplaceable documents.

The county also states that packages are not accepted at the facility except for a Bible mailed directly from a church under its published rule. Because mail policies can change, verify this exception before sending anything.

Commissary: Tuesday Cutoffs Matter

Angelina County publishes unusually specific commissary timing. Inmates must enter commissary orders by phone before Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., with distribution on Wednesday. The county says money must be in the inmate account before 8:00 a.m. Tuesday for that cycle.

Regular commissary

Food, beverages, stationery, hygiene items, clothing and shoes are among the categories the county says may be available. Stockpiling for resale, gambling or barter is prohibited.

Indigent request

The county says an inmate requests indigent supplies using an Inmate Request Form with the person’s name, SO number and “indigent,” submitted before Friday at 8:00 a.m.

County-published indigent condition

The current page states the inmate cannot buy commissary and the account balance must be below $50 to receive indigent supplies. This is a jail rule, not a general Texas benefit threshold.

Before sending funds, confirm current custody and the correct SO number. Inmate-account money is not bond and does not itself authorize release.

Open Records, Sheriff Records and Booking Photos

Angelina County says public-information requests are governed by the Texas Public Information Act. A request must seek an existing record; the county is not required to create a new document or answer general questions as a substitute for producing records.

Current jail data

Use the live roster and Judicial Public Access first. This is faster than filing an open-records request for information already publicly available.

Sheriff records

The Sheriff’s Office lists its Records contact as 936-639-8762. For a formal Public Information Act request, use Angelina County’s open-records procedure and select the correct custodian.

Court files

District-court pleadings and records belong with the District Clerk. Do not send a jail-record request to the wrong clerk simply because the arrest led to a court case.

For a booking photo or older booking material that is not available through the public systems, ask the responsible records custodian whether the specific record is releasable and what request method applies. Do not assume a commercial mugshot page reflects the county’s current file or the final case outcome.

Do Not Treat the Old “279-Inmate Maximum” as a Current 2026 Capacity Number

Angelina County’s jail-information page still says the detention center opened in 2003 with a maximum of 279 inmates. That text describes the original facility. It should not be copied into a 2026 article as though nothing has changed.

County Commissioners Court records show a Jail Addition and Renovations project continuing into 2026, and local East Texas reporting in January 2026 reported that a new expansion had been completed and approved for use. Meanwhile, the live roster can show more names than the old 279 figure.

What this means: do not conclude “overcrowding” merely by comparing today’s roster total with the old 279-person description. Current operational capacity, off-site housing and contract-housing arrangements belong to current Texas Commission on Jail Standards reporting. If capacity is the question, use the newest TCJS population report instead of this article’s old facility-history number.

After Transfer: TDCJ, IVSS-Counties and Federal Custody

TDCJ state custody

If the person has moved into Texas Department of Criminal Justice custody, use TDCJ rather than the county roster. The state system covers prison custody and related post-conviction information.

Texas Department of Criminal Justice

IVSS-Counties notifications

IVSS-Counties supports county-custody lookup and notifications. The current portal accepts full or partial name plus identifiers such as DOC ID, SID, Jail ID or permanent booking number. Program management moved to the Texas Office of the Governor on September 1, 2026, while notifications and services continued.

IVSS-Counties

Federal custody

Use the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator when the person is in federal prison custody. A county case, federal detainer or federal investigation does not automatically mean the person is already in a BOP facility.

Before You Share a Booking Record or Act on It

  • Reopen the live county roster rather than relying on a saved screenshot.
  • Do not publish the current inmate total as a permanent statistic; the list changes.
  • Do not treat an arrest, booking photo, warrant or charge as proof of guilt.
  • Use Judicial Public Access and the proper court for case status and disposition.
  • Verify bond before paying and use the county Bail Bond Board to check local license status when using a bond company.
  • Call before visitation because first-come sign-up and jail emergencies can affect access.
  • Use the Longview scanning address only for qualifying non-legal personal mail.
  • Do not send legal or medical mail to the personal-mail scanning PO box.
  • Keep inmate-account funds separate from bail.
  • Do not use jail information to harass, threaten, stalk, dox, discriminate against or impersonate another person.

Angelina County Jail Roster FAQs

Where is the official Angelina County Jail roster?

The official roster is at Angelina County’s angelinacounty.net/injail/ page. The county’s current angelinacounty.gov homepage also links to the Jail Roster, so the older .net hostname is still part of the county’s official web system.

What information does the public roster show?

The list-level roster shows the inmate’s name, sex, height, weight, eye color, hair color and booking date. For criminal case records, court calendars, jail records or jail bond records, use Angelina County Judicial Public Access.

Why does the total number of inmates change?

The roster reflects changing custody. During the October 4, 2026 source review, different official fetches returned different totals. Use the live number shown when you open the roster rather than a number copied into an article or screenshot.

What should I do if a person is not on the Angelina County roster?

Try reasonable name variations, call Book-In at 936-639-8724 for a very recent arrest, check Judicial Public Access for a case, then use TDCJ or the federal BOP locator only when the custody path supports state or federal transfer.

Does an Angelina County roster entry mean the person was convicted?

No. Angelina County’s own roster warns that arrest does not mean conviction. Use the court record for filed charges, hearings, pleas, dismissal, sentencing and final disposition.

How do I verify an Angelina County bond?

Use the Jail Bond Records category in Angelina County Judicial Public Access and confirm the current custody and bond status with the jail or court before paying. If using a bond company, verify it against the county Bail Bond Board’s licensed-company list.

What are the current Angelina County Jail visitation hours?

The county publishes male sessions Tuesday 7–10 p.m., Wednesday 2–5:30 p.m., Thursday 7–10 p.m. and Sunday 8–11 a.m.; female sessions Tuesday 6–7 p.m., Wednesday 12:30–2 p.m., Thursday 6–7 p.m. and Sunday 1–2:30 p.m. Visits are first come, first served and limited to 30 minutes under the current published rules.

How do I send personal mail to an Angelina County inmate?

For ordinary non-legal personal mail, use the inmate’s name and SO number, Angelina County Jail, PO Box 591, Longview, TX 75606. The county publishes a five-page limit, front-side-only scanning and one-photo-per-mailing rule. Legal and medical mail must not be sent to that scanning address.

What phone and messaging provider does Angelina County Jail use?

The county jail-information page identifies NCIC Inmate Communications. It publishes prepaid/debit calling rates and secure-message and remote-video charges, but provider pricing should be rechecked before funding an account.

When is money due for the weekly commissary order?

The county says inmate funds must be in the account before 8:00 a.m. Tuesday and commissary orders must be entered before 10:00 a.m. Tuesday for Wednesday distribution. Confirm current custody and the correct SO number before sending money.
