Fine-balance clue: HCSO states that when the UP date and OUT date are the same, the fine balance does not have to be paid to release the person on that specific case. Other cases or holds can still prevent release.
Booking is not conviction. Arrests, charges, court settings and jail records are not proof that a person committed the alleged offense.

No search result does not prove release. A person can be processing, at court, moved to another facility, listed under another booked name or held by another jurisdiction.

HCSO’s Offense Inquiry is different from the name-based inmate search. It can help answer whether a defendant is currently in Harris County Jail, provide available release information, and show case details such as next setting date/time and disposition.

HCSO no longer accepts ordinary personal mail directly at the jail facility. Personal correspondence goes through the Securus Digital Mail Center for scanning and electronic viewing.

What Happens to the Physical Letter?
