ADC SENTENCED, ACT 309, ACT 570 and Other Short Roster Labels

Poinsett County’s live roster uses Arkansas-specific correctional shorthand. Those labels can describe custody status or program context; they are not always a new criminal charge.

ADC SENTENCED

The Sheriff says the detention center houses some sentenced people while they wait for a bed in the Arkansas state prison system or Community Corrections. Arkansas DOC separately explains that a person on the ADC waiting list will not appear in the state inmate search until physically received from the county jail.

ACT 309 OF 1983

Arkansas DOC’s current Act 309 rule identifies two program categories: 309 In-Jail, where approved ADC inmates remain housed in a county or city jail, and 309 Work, where qualifying inmates may perform supervised governmental work while housed locally. A roster line that says ACT 309 OF 1983 does not tell you which subtype applies, so do not infer work-release status from the label alone.

ACT 570

Poinsett release records have displayed ACT 570. Arkansas DOC county-jail accounting records classify Act 570 as a DCC Client category. That label alone is not enough to determine the underlying supervision violation, court order or release eligibility; ask which correctional authority and court control the matter.

Verify Current Bail Before Anyone Sends Money

Poinsett County booking profiles warn that charges and bail amounts can change after court appearances and may not be current. The Sheriff directs bond companies and people wishing to post bail to call the Detention Center at 870-578-2116 for the correct bail amount, current charges and case numbers.

Bail, Fines, Commissary, Phone Funds and Food Orders Are Different Payments

The Sheriff’s Fines & Fees page says felony fines and fees may be paid in person with cash, money order or cashier’s check, and by mail with money order or cashier’s check; personal checks are not accepted. That payment process should not be substituted for bail unless the responsible office specifically tells you it applies to the matter you are paying.

Confirm Poinsett County Visitation Before You Drive

The current Sheriff Detention Center FAQ reviewed for this update publishes detailed mail, property, medication and account instructions, but it does not publish a general public visitation timetable. Third-party jail directories do publish visit schedules, but those schedules were not supported by a current Sheriff visitation page in the official material reviewed.

Call 870-578-2116 before travelling and ask whether visits are currently in-person, video or both; what days and hours apply; whether advance registration is required; which provider is currently approved; what identification is required; whether minors may participate; and whether classification or disciplinary restrictions affect the visit.

Regular Personal Mail Uses Smart Communications MailGuard

Poinsett County says regular inmate postal mail has used Smart Communications MailGuard since July 1, 2024. Ordinary letters are sent to the MailGuard processing address, not to the physical detention-center address.

• Print the inmate’s name and booking/ID number clearly on the outside of the envelope or postcard.
• Regular postcards, letters and greeting cards are scanned and made available to inmates electronically.
• Inappropriate content may be rejected.
• MailGuard Tracker can be used to monitor delivery or rejection status.
• After release, the county says inmates can use SmartInmate.com with their inmate number and password to download available photos, messages and postal mail.

Softback-book exception

The Sheriff’s FAQ says inmates may receive up to two softback books by postal mail at the physical facility address: 1500 Justice Drive, Harrisburg, AR 72432. Do not send ordinary personal letters there just because it is the jail’s physical address.

Property, Money Release and Medication Have Local Pickup Rules

The Sheriff says medications can be dropped off at any time. Medication pickup is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., and must be completed by the person for whom the medication was prescribed.

For an urgent medication, withdrawal, suicide-risk or other medical-safety concern, call the facility rather than sending sensitive health information through ordinary email.

Arkansas VINE Can Reduce Repeated Roster Checking

Arkansas VINE provides supported custody, court and supervision information and allows crime victims and concerned citizens to register for notifications. The Arkansas Department of Corrections publishes the following transfer schedule:

The Sheriff also maintains a mobile app and has advertised daily inmate-roster notifications. Treat app alerts and VINE as supplements to—not replacements for—the live custody source when a same-day decision matters.
