Randall County Jail Roster 2026: Inmate Search & Bookings

Randall County, Texas • verified custody and booking workflow

Find the Booking, Then Follow the Right Record

Randall County’s Sheriff roster can show booking date, inmate ID, arresting agency, cause number, charge, issuing authority, disposition, offense classification, bond information and a booking image.

The important part is knowing what to do next. This guide connects that booking to court records, bond verification, visitation, phone and trust-fund services, inmate mail, appointed-counsel information and records requests.

Choose the Question You Need Answered

Current custody, a court case, bond status, visitation, inmate money and an arrest report are different records. Use the section that matches the action you are about to take.

Important live-site distinction

The Sheriff Has Two Roster Routes—One May Show an Outage

The Sheriff’s general /inmates page currently displays an “Inmate Search is currently down” notice.

However, the separate /inmateSearch endpoint is currently returning live booking records.

If Both Routes Fail

  1. Wait a few minutes and retry the direct roster.
  2. Check the Sheriff’s official app if appropriate.
  3. Use Randall County Judicial Records for Jail Records or Jail Bond Records.
  4. Call Jail Division at 806-468-5752 for a time-sensitive custody question.

Do not use a Google snippet as live custody proof. Search results and mugshot pages can remain indexed after a person is released, transferred or rebooked.

Booking-field decoder

Understand What Each Roster Field Actually Tells You

Field Useful for Do not assume
Booking Date Identifying the listed intake event. It is the precise arrest time or court filing date.
Inmate ID Identifying the person in the jail system. It is a court cause number.
Arresting Agency Knowing which agency is tied to the booking. RCSO created every underlying incident report.
Cause Number Connecting a charge or case to judicial records. One inmate has only one cause number.
Charge Description Understanding the allegation associated with that line. It is a conviction or final filed offense.
Issuing Authority Identifying the court or authority connected with the line. Every listed charge belongs to the same court.
Offense Disposition Reading the status supplied by the jail system. It replaces the official court docket or final judgment.
Crime Classification Understanding the displayed offense category. It explains every later amendment or enhancement.
Bond Type Identifying the bond status/type associated with that line. A zero amount automatically means immediate release.
Bond Amount Required Starting a release inquiry for that cause. Paying one amount clears every charge or outside hold.
Booking Image Supporting identity comparison. A mugshot proves guilt or remains current after release.

Presumption of innocence: a booking image, arrest, charge, bond amount or custody entry is not proof that the person committed the alleged offense.

Official arrest-to-court workflow

Why a Recent Arrest May Not Appear Immediately

Randall County’s official arrest-through-arraignment guidance says the booking process can take several hours.

Arrest / transport
Booking + property
Magistrate
Court case proceeds

What Happens During Booking?

The county’s general guidance says jail processing can include:

  • Collecting name and address information.
  • Recording date-of-birth information.
  • Asking about medical concerns.
  • Fingerprinting.
  • Taking and cataloging personal belongings.
  • Separately recording items that may be evidence.

Personal Property and Evidence Are Different

Ordinary belongings are cataloged during jail intake. Items believed to be evidence are documented separately and may not follow the same return process.

Magistrate Review

Randall County’s guidance says an arrested person must generally be seen by a judge or magistrate within 48 hours of arrest. The magistrate explains the accusation and rights and addresses bail.

Booking Is Not Formal Charging

The arresting officer presents the matter for prosecution review. The county explains that formal charges may later take the form of a Complaint, Information or, in felony cases, an Indictment.

For the county’s full general explanation, read the official Arrest Through Arraignment guide.

What to Check When the Person Is Missing

Missing Booking Helper

Select the situation that most closely matches your search.

Fast No-Result Checklist

  • Retry the legal surname with careful spelling.
  • Try a former or hyphenated surname.
  • Allow several hours for a very recent booking.
  • Check whether the direct roster is functioning.
  • Search Judicial Records when a case exists without current custody.
  • Check which side of Amarillo the arrest occurred on.
  • Check TDCJ after sentencing or transfer.
  • Check federal custody when the matter is federal.
Amarillo jurisdiction check

Do Not Assume Every Amarillo Arrest Goes to Randall County

Amarillo includes territory in both Randall County and Potter County. Knowing only the city name is not enough to identify the correct county detention system.

Look for One of These Clues

  • Exact arrest location.
  • Arresting agency.
  • County named on a warrant.
  • County named on bond paperwork.
  • Cause number and issuing court.
  • Facility listed on booking paperwork.

Randall County Side

Use Randall County Sheriff’s roster and Randall County Judicial Records.

Best shortcut: use arrest or bond paperwork to identify the county before repeatedly searching both systems.

One county, several record types

Use Judicial Records for the Question the Roster Cannot Answer

Randall County Judicial Records separates several search types.

Search type Best for Not a substitute for
Criminal Records Criminal case information. Current physical jail housing.
Court Calendar Scheduled court settings. Guaranteed unchanged hearing information.
Jail Records Judicial-system jail-record searching. The entire incident investigation.
Jail Bond Records Bond-related record searching. Proof that all holds are cleared.
Law Enforcement Records Relevant law-enforcement record access. Final court disposition.

Cause Number Workflow

  1. Find the correct inmate on the Sheriff roster.
  2. Write down every cause number.
  3. Open Judicial Records.
  4. Choose the correct record category.
  5. Search using the strongest identifier available.
  6. Compare the defendant and court before relying on the result.

After saving the cause number, open Randall County Judicial Records.

Court-stage verification

Arraignment and Later Court Records Are Separate From Booking

Randall County identifies the Randall County Justice Center at 2309 Russell Long Boulevard, Canyon, TX 79015 in its arraignment guidance.

What Arraignment Means

The county explains arraignment as an initial court appearance where the accused receives the charging instrument, may have the charges read and enters a plea.

Do Not Use the Booking Date as a Court Date

Booking, magistrate review, arraignment and later hearings are different stages and can occur on different dates.

For Court Records

Use the cause number from the jail entry and search Randall County Judicial Records rather than relying on a roster screenshot.

For District Court Dockets

After determining the assigned district court, use the Randall County District Court Dockets page.

Before a required appearance: verify the current date, time and assigned court. Do not assume a saved search result cannot change.

Missing from many jail-roster pages

What If the Person Cannot Afford an Attorney?

Randall County operates a Managed Assigned Counsel system for qualifying accused persons.

Two Main Eligibility Questions

1. Is the Charge Eligible?

Randall County says a qualifying case generally must involve a felony or a type of misdemeanor that could result in imprisonment.

A fine-only offense does not qualify for appointed counsel through this process.

2. Can the Accused Afford Counsel?

The county considers financial circumstances such as income, dependents, spousal income and other relevant financial information.

If the accused is charged with a qualifying offense and is determined to be indigent, the county says an attorney can be appointed.

After identifying the case type, review Randall County’s appointed-attorney eligibility guidance.

Bond and release

Read Every Cause Number Before Paying Bond

One booking can contain multiple causes. Each cause can have a different bond type, amount or legal status.

Before Money Changes Hands

  • Confirm the person is still in custody.
  • Confirm the inmate ID.
  • Write down every cause number.
  • Read every bond type.
  • Read every displayed bond amount.
  • Check Jail Bond Records.
  • Ask whether another warrant or hold blocks release.
  • Confirm the approved payment or surety route.
  • Keep every receipt.

Cash Bond and Surety Bond Are Different

Randall County’s general arrest guide distinguishes paying the full bail amount from using a licensed bail bond company that charges its own fee.

Trust fund is not bail. A ConnectNetwork Trust Fund deposit puts money into an inmate account; it should not be confused with satisfying a court bond.

Bond Verification Script

“I am checking bond for [full booked name]. I have the inmate ID and these cause numbers. Are all listed bond amounts current, is another hold active, and would satisfying the eligible bonds make the person eligible for release processing?”

Official PDF audit

Do Not Treat the County’s Old Bonding PDF as Permanent Approval

Randall County’s live Bail Bond Board page currently links three useful documents:

  • Bail Bonds Company Listing.
  • Bail Bonds Company Renewal Date.
  • Bail Bonds Company Values Summary.

The Important Detail Most Pages Miss

The currently linked company listing and renewal-date documents are dated November 3, 2025.

The PDFs include individual license-expiration dates. Some dates shown in the PDFs were in February and April 2026, which means appearance in that old PDF is not proof that a company remains currently licensed today.

Verify a Company This Way

  1. Open Randall County Bonding Company Data.
  2. Review the newest listing available.
  3. Review the renewal-date document.
  4. Check the company and agent.
  5. Check license number and expiration.
  6. Confirm current status before paying.
  7. Do not rely on a sponsored search result as licensing proof.

Use the official Randall County Bonding Company Data page.

Snapshot rule: an official PDF can be historically accurate and still become outdated. Revalidate current licensing rather than selecting a company solely because it appears on the document.

Current provider verification

Randall County Visitation Uses a Dedicated Scheduling System

The current ConnectNetwork facility listing identifies Randall County TX Detention Center as Site ID 232 and lists both Visitation Scheduling and Video Visitation.

Current ViaPath Visitor Portal Requirements

The Randall County visitation portal currently states:

  • A valid state ID or passport is required.
  • No cell phones are allowed in the visitation area.
  • Only registered visitors may appear on camera.
  • Visitors should review and follow the posted visitation policies.
  • Non-compliance can cause a visit to be terminated and can affect future privileges.
  • Registered users can schedule and manage upcoming visits online.

Online Video Visit Setup

The ViaPath portal supports online visitation scheduling and internet video visits. It also provides browser/mobile options for supported devices.

Before You Schedule

  • Refresh the Sheriff roster.
  • Confirm the inmate is still housed at Randall County Jail.
  • Create or sign into the correct visitor account.
  • Register every person who will appear on camera.
  • Have valid identification ready.
  • Review the dress code.
  • Test the device, camera, microphone and internet for remote visits.
  • Check the current appointment time before travelling.

After confirming custody, use the Randall County ViaPath visitation portal.

Need Jail-Specific Visit Help?

Randall County Sheriff lists Jail Visitation at 806-468-5825.

Major provider correction

Phone, Trust Fund and Visitation Are Not the Same as NCIC Messaging

The current provider information shows two separate systems serving different purposes.

Service Current verified route Use it for
AdvancePay Phone ConnectNetwork / ViaPath facility listing Supported inmate telephone account service.
Trust Fund ConnectNetwork facility listing Supported inmate trust-account deposits.
Visit Scheduling ViaPath Randall County visitor portal Scheduling supported visitation.
Video Visitation ViaPath visitor system Supported video visits.
Electronic Messages NCIC Messages, pictures and document attachments.

Randall County Facility ID

ConnectNetwork currently identifies the facility as Randall County TX-Detention Center, Site ID 232.

Deposit protection: verify the inmate’s identity and current Randall County custody before depositing money. For automated Trust Fund transactions, use the facility information shown by ConnectNetwork rather than selecting a similarly named facility.

After verifying the inmate, review the ConnectNetwork Randall County facility listing for the currently supported services.

Do not confuse services: NCIC messaging credit is not automatically the same balance as ConnectNetwork AdvancePay or Trust Fund money, and none of these services is a court bail payment.

Effective January 2, 2025

Regular Mail Is Scanned; Legal and Medical Mail Follow a Different Route

Randall County Sheriff changed its ordinary inmate-mail process to reduce contraband. Regular personal mail is processed at an off-site scanning facility and delivered electronically to the inmate.

Regular Personal Mail Address

[Inmate Name]
SO# [identifying number]
Randall County Jail
PO BOX 591
Longview, Texas 75606

Five Rules That Commonly Cause Mail to Be Rejected

  • The inmate name and detention/booking identifying number must be included.
  • A complete return address is required.
  • Mail must be no larger than 8.5 inches wide by 11 inches tall.
  • A mailing may contain no more than five pages.
  • Write only on the front because scanned mail is processed single-sided.
  • Only one photograph may be included per mailing.

Do not send irreplaceable originals. The Sheriff warns that physical items sent to the Longview processing address are destroyed after electronic processing and are not returned or reimbursed.

Do Not Send These to the Scanning PO Box

  • Legal mail.
  • Medical mail.
  • Magazines.
  • Newspapers.
  • Bulk mail.
  • Books.

Books, publications and legal/medical correspondence must follow the detention facility’s separate mail rules.

Legal and Medical Mail

Randall County Jail
9100 S. Georgia St.
Amarillo, TX 79118

Check custody first: privileged or medical mail should be addressed only after confirming the inmate remains housed at the Randall County facility.

NCIC Electronic Messages

The Sheriff’s current inmate-mail page separately promotes NCIC messaging.

Electronic item Current Sheriff-listed price
Message $0.25 per message
Picture / document message $0.35 per picture/document

The Sheriff also states that there is no listed limit on how many electronic messages and photos can be sent through that system.

Rates can change. Recheck the provider checkout before depositing money rather than treating an article price as permanent.

Review the current Randall County Sheriff inmate-mail rules before sending anything.

Medical or safety concern

Who to Contact About an Inmate Medical Concern

Randall County Sheriff publicly lists a Jail Medical Division in addition to the general Jail Division.

Jail Medical Division

Current listed division contact: 806-468-5814.

General Jail Division

For custody routing or general detention questions: 806-468-5752.

Prepare Useful Information

  • Inmate’s full booked name.
  • Inmate ID when known.
  • Current booking date.
  • Specific concern.
  • When the concern began.
  • Relevant medication or medical information when appropriate.
  • Your callback information.

The Sheriff also maintains a Mental Health Services, Counseling Services and Shelters resource page for broader community assistance.

Beyond the public roster

How to Request Reports, Images or Other Sheriff Records

The jail roster is not the same as an incident report, arrest report, underlying photograph file or other releasable law-enforcement record.

Records Division

Randall County Sheriff Records Division
9100 S. Georgia St.
Amarillo, TX 79118

Records contact: 806-468-5863
Email: records@randallso.gov

Formal Public Information Act Route

Randall County Public Information Request
2309 Russell Long Blvd., Suite 120
Canyon, TX 79015

Email: publicinfo@randallcounty.gov

Make the Request Easier to Process

  • Name the exact record type.
  • Give the incident or booking date.
  • Provide the inmate ID, incident number or cause number when relevant.
  • Provide a narrow date range.
  • Identify the agency involved.
  • Request only information you actually need.

Mugshot availability: seeing an image on a current public booking entry does not mean every historical booking photograph or underlying image file must be released without a public-record review.

Use the Sheriff’s Open Records Request page after identifying the specific record.

Release and custody-change alerts

Use Texas IVSS-Counties for County-Jail Notifications

Texas IVSS-Counties is the notification route for participating county-jail custody records.

Why It Can Be More Useful Than Refreshing the Roster

  • Register for supported custody-status notifications.
  • Monitor release-related changes.
  • Monitor other eligible county custody events.
  • Reduce the need to manually refresh the roster all day.

County-jail notification assistance: 866-393-5445.

After confirming the correct person and county, use the Texas IVSS-Counties portal.

County vs state: IVSS-Counties is different from the TDCJ IVSS system used for people in Texas prison or parole/mandatory-supervision jurisdiction.

Automated notifications can be delayed. Do not use a notification service as the only safety plan when immediate personal safety is involved.

After transfer or sentencing

Where to Search When the Person Leaves County Jail

Texas State Custody

Use TDCJ offender information when sentencing or transfer may have moved the person into Texas Department of Criminal Justice custody.

Open TDCJ Offender Information

Important: a court case can remain active after the person leaves Randall County Jail. Court status and physical custody are separate questions.

Accuracy and responsible use

A Jail Roster Is Not a Complete Criminal Background Report

  • Do not treat an arrest as a conviction.
  • Do not treat a booking image as proof of guilt.
  • Do not assume an old mugshot means current custody.
  • Do not identify a person using only a common name.
  • Do not share unnecessary personal identifiers.
  • Do not harass a defendant, victim, witness or family member.
  • Do not make significant employment or housing decisions from a jail roster alone.
  • Do not send money through an unsolicited text or advertisement.
  • Use court records for final legal outcomes.
  • Use a licensed Texas attorney for legal advice.

How do I schedule Randall County jail visitation?

The current Randall County ViaPath visitation portal allows registered visitors to schedule visits online. It states that a valid state ID or passport is required, cell phones are not allowed in the visitation area and only registered visitors may appear on camera.
