Weber County Jail Roster UT: Inmate Search & Bail

Weber County, Utah • sources reviewed October 4, 2026

Search the Weber County Jail Roster—Then Verify the Result Before You Pay or Travel

For current Weber County custody, start with the Weber County Sheriff’s public inmate roster and search by last name and/or first name. Open the person’s Details page to compare the booking date, age, physical descriptors, charges, case information when shown, and the Type–Bail–Fine section.

The Sheriff places an important limitation directly on this public page: the web roster is not the official inmate roster, and its Terms say the online copy is not updated more often than once per hour and is often updated less frequently. For a time-sensitive custody decision, confirm with Corrections rather than relying on an old screenshot.

Active family bail scam: Weber County Sheriff warns that scammers are using inmate information to call relatives, quote a bail amount, and demand Venmo or other payment-platform transfers. The Sheriff says it does not call family members to announce that bail can be posted and does not accept Venmo, PayPal, Bitcoin or similar payment platforms. Hang up and verify through Corrections at 801-778-6700 or 801-778-6737.

Use the System That Owns the Answer

Weber County custody, court cases, warrants, state corrections, federal custody and records requests are separate systems. A missing result in one system does not answer the others.

Question Best official source Use it for
Is the person listed in Weber County custody? Sheriff inmate roster Current public roster, first/last-name filtering, booking date and Details pages.
What happened at booking or release? Booking & Release Bail type, holds, classification, next-court-day arraignment, O.R. and general release timing.
What is the court case status? Utah Courts Xchange Public district- and justice-court case summary information. Parties can also check MyCase where supported.
Is there a Utah warrant? Utah Statewide Warrant Search Warrant lookup; a warrant result is not proof of present Weber County incarceration.
Has custody moved to Utah DOC? Utah DOC Offender Search People currently incarcerated by or on probation/parole with Utah DOC.
Need inmate or Sheriff records? Sheriff Records / GRAMA Case reports, accident reports, inmate records and other Sheriff records subject to GRAMA.
Federal custody? Federal BOP Inmate Locator Federal Bureau of Prisons custody rather than county jail custody.

What Weber County Roster Fields Mean—and What They Do Not Prove

Field Useful for Do not assume
When Booked / Booking Date Identifying the custody event and separating similar names. It is not necessarily the arrest time or offense date.
Age / gender / physical description Reducing mistaken identity when names repeat. One matching physical field is not enough to prove identity.
Case Number Routing to the correct Utah court case when the field is populated. A blank case-number field does not prove there is no court case.
Charges / state statute Understanding the allegations connected to the booking. A roster charge is not a conviction and may change after prosecutor/court review.
Type – Bail – Fine Seeing how the roster currently describes release/bail information for listed charges. A displayed amount or “no bail” code should not be interpreted without the current court/jail context.
Roster presence A public signal that the person is included in the web roster at the time you check. The page itself says it is not the official roster and may be stale by more than an hour.
Mugshot caution: Weber County’s public roster list and Details pages are the source to check first for whatever the county currently chooses to display. Do not rely on a third-party mugshot site or assume a photo must be publicly available. A booking image, if present, is not evidence of guilt.

If the Person Is Not Showing, Troubleshoot in This Order

Roster refresh lag

Possible reason: the Sheriff says the web roster is not updated more often than once per hour and is often updated less frequently.

Next action: check again and call Corrections when a current answer matters.

Booking still in Reception & Orientation

Possible reason: booking and classification are still underway.

Next action: allow for processing; the county says classification can take up to 72 hours.

Name variation

Possible reason: spelling, spacing, former surname or middle name differs.

Next action: broaden the first/last-name filters and compare age and booking date.

Released or transferred

Possible reason: bail, court release, sentence completion, another hold or transfer changed custody.

Next action: check court information, Utah DOC or the receiving agency instead of relying on an old roster screenshot.

Kiesel community-custody placement

Possible reason: work-release, community-service or weekend inmates can be associated with the Kiesel facility rather than ordinary 12th Street housing.

Next action: verify the person’s current Corrections placement before visiting or mailing.

Utah DOC supervision

Possible reason: the person is now in state prison or on Utah DOC probation/parole.

Next action: use Utah DOC Offender Search. It does not list ordinary pretrial county-jail detainees.

Warrant or case without custody

Possible reason: a warrant or court case can exist while the person is not incarcerated.

Next action: use Utah’s statewide warrant search and the assigned court.

Federal custody

Possible reason: a federal agency/case is responsible.

Next action: use the BOP locator when federal custody is genuinely plausible.

Booking, Classification and Release: Weber County’s Published Sequence

After booking is completed, the Sheriff says staff tell the arrestee the charges, required bail and whether bail is cash-only or bondable, and disclose known holds. The arrestee is given an opportunity to make a collect call to try to arrange bail.

Reception & Orientation

New inmates are housed in R&O until classification. The county says classification can take up to 72 hours. During R&O, collect calls can be made, but public visiting and commissary purchases are not allowed.

First court appearance

The Booking & Release page says inmates are scheduled for arraignment on the next court day. The exact court depends on the charge and jurisdiction.

Own Recognizance

Some arrestees may qualify for court-approved pretrial release without posting bail. The county describes verification factors such as address, employment and community ties.

Published release windows

The Sheriff says court-ordered releases begin at approximately 5:00 p.m., while inmates completing a sentence begin release at approximately 9:00 a.m. on the date time is served. These are general published windows, not guarantees for an individual case.

Bail: Verify the Order and Ignore Payment-Platform Calls

The booking staff identify whether bail is cash-only or bondable and provide licensed bonding-company information to inmates. Confirm the live roster/court information and any holds before paying anyone.

Fraud rule worth memorizing: Weber County says it will not call relatives to say they can post bail and does not accept Venmo, PayPal, Bitcoin or other payment platforms. A caller who uses a real inmate name and a plausible bail amount can still be a scammer.

For bond companies, a current Sheriff notice effective September 16, 2025 requires a $5 cash processing fee per bond at posting. That is a bond-company processing rule; it should not be confused with the amount of bail ordered by the court.

Even after legitimate bail is posted, another hold or administrative step can affect release. The Sheriff’s page says release occurs as soon as possible rather than promising a fixed number of minutes.

Choose the Court From the Case—Not From the Jail Name

Weber County Jail holds people whose cases can be in Utah’s Second District Court, Weber County Justice Court or one of several municipal justice courts. Utah Courts says district courts handle felonies and class A misdemeanors; justice courts handle most class B/C misdemeanors, infractions and traffic cases.

Public case search

Utah Courts Xchange provides public district- and justice-court case summary information. The current one-time/guest option lists a $10 account fee, searches at $0.20 each and documents at $1.00 each. Parties to supported cases can use MyCase for their own case information without the Xchange search fee.

October 2026 Xchange change: Utah Courts began rolling out updated Xchange features in October 2026, including standardized document numbering across court systems. If an older tutorial looks different from the live interface, follow the current Utah Courts page.

A Warrant Search Is Not a Custody Search

The Weber County Sheriff links directly to Utah’s Statewide Warrant Search. Use that service when the question is whether a Utah warrant exists. Use the Weber roster when the question is whether the person appears in county custody.

A warrant can exist without current incarceration, and a current inmate can have multiple cases or holds. Do not confront or attempt to apprehend anyone because of an online warrant result; verify through the responsible court or law-enforcement agency.

Weber County Visits Are Video Visits and Must Be Scheduled

After classification, an inmate may receive one or two 25-minute visits per week depending on classification. Visits are conducted by video monitor and must be scheduled at least one day in advance through the lobby or Securus.

Day Lobby hours Public visitation
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 7:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m. 1:00–9:00 p.m.
Wednesday 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. No public visits
Saturday 10:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. 10:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
Sunday Closed Closed

Internet visits begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday. Exact appointment slots vary by classification. The published visiting rules require approved visitors, valid government ID for adults, supervision of minors, appropriate dress and compliance with searches/background checks.

R&O exception: people still in Reception & Orientation are not allowed public visits until classified.

Phone, Email, Mail, Trust Account and Commissary

Phone calls

Housing units have phones for outgoing prepaid or debit calls. Incoming calls are not accepted. Weber County currently identifies Securus Technologies as the inmate phone provider and lists 1-800-844-6591 for phone-account deposits/support.

Electronic messages

The Inmate Services page says electronic messages can be sent through the Securus service and that applicable fees apply. Verify current pricing with Securus before paying.

Personal mail is postcard-only under the current county rule

The county says inmate mail must come through the U.S. Postal Service and is not accepted at the lobby window. Only white, prestamped or metered postcards are accepted. Envelopes, pictures and adhesive stamps are returned, and photos may not be included.

Address:
Inmate’s Name
Inmate’s Number
PO Box 14000
Ogden, UT 84412

Trust account deposits

Friends and family can fund an inmate trust account at the lobby kiosk during reception hours using cash or credit card, or online through InmateCanteen. The Sheriff says processing fees apply.

The Inmate Services page currently lists reception/lobby funding hours as 8:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m. each day except Sundays and holidays, with Wednesday closing at 5:00 p.m. Recheck the live page before traveling because visitation-lobby and funding hours are not identical.

Commissary

Classified inmates may purchase approved commissary items once per week using trust-account funds. People still in R&O cannot make commissary purchases.

Do not mix accounts: an InmateCanteen trust deposit or Securus phone deposit does not post bail. These are separate services with different purposes.

Medical, Mental Health, PREA and Accessibility

Medical care

The Sheriff says medical staff are on duty 24 hours per day and that the jail contracts with an outside medical-services provider.

Mental health

The county separately states that it contracts with an outside provider for mental-health services. Classification interviews can identify medical, dental, mental-health and ADA considerations for referral.

PREA reporting

Weber County maintains a zero-tolerance PREA policy. The public PREA reporting line is 801-395-8221. Incidents can also be reported to the Sheriff or any law-enforcement officer.

ADA

The Inmate Services page publishes a Title II ADA notice and grievance procedure for qualified people with disabilities in jail services, programs and activities.

For an immediate emergency or imminent safety threat, call 911. Do not post a person’s private medical information publicly just because they are in custody.

GRAMA and Inmate Records: The Public Roster Is Not the Full File

The Weber County Sheriff Records Section handles case reports, DI-9 accident reports, inmate records and other Sheriff records. The office is listed as available Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., excluding holidays.

A written GRAMA request must identify the record with reasonable specificity and include the requestor’s name, address and daytime phone number. The current page also requires an uploaded copy of valid driver’s license or state/federal government photo ID for electronic requests.

The Sheriff warns that many records are private, protected or controlled under GRAMA and are released only when legal criteria are met. The records page says requests must allow a ten-day grace period, although some records can be released sooner depending on the incident and review.

Kiesel, Utah DOC and Federal Custody Are Different Paths

Kiesel Facility

Weber County’s Kiesel facility is used for Community Service inmates, Work Release inmates and Weekenders. Do not assume every person connected to Corrections is housed in the standard 12th Street population.

Utah DOC

Utah DOC Offender Search is only for people currently under Utah DOC supervision, including incarceration or probation/parole. Pretrial county-jail detainees generally will not appear there.

Federal custody

Use the BOP Inmate Locator for federal prison custody. Weber County also transports some US Marshal/immigration detainees, so the physical jail and the agency controlling a case are not always the same thing.

Use Jail Information Responsibly

The public Weber roster is a custody-information tool with its own update limitations. A name can remain visible while court action, bail, a hold, transfer or release processing changes the person’s actual status.

An arrest, booking, charge, warrant or mugshot does not establish guilt. Do not use public jail information to harass, threaten, stalk, shame or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. Use the assigned court record when the legal outcome matters.

Weber County Jail Roster FAQ

Is the Weber County Sheriff web page the official inmate roster?

The Sheriff hosts the public roster page but its own Terms say the website is not the official inmate roster. Official records kept by the Sheriff control if the web page differs from the official record.

How often is the Weber County online roster updated?

The county’s Terms say the public web roster is not updated more often than once per hour and is often updated less frequently. Do not rely on an old screenshot for a time-sensitive custody decision.

How do I search the Weber County jail roster?

Use the official Sheriff roster, filter by last name and/or first name, compare booking date, middle name, age and gender, then open Details for the charge and bail-related information shown by the county.

Why is someone not showing right after an arrest?

The web roster can lag and booking/classification may still be underway. Weber County says classification can take up to 72 hours. Recheck the live roster and call Corrections when the answer is urgent.

Can someone in Reception & Orientation receive visits or commissary?

No public visits or commissary purchases are allowed while an inmate is in R&O under the county’s current Booking & Release guidance, although collect calls can be made.

How do I avoid a Weber County bail scam?

Do not pay a caller through Venmo, PayPal, Bitcoin or another payment platform. The Sheriff says it does not call family members to announce that bail can be posted. Hang up and call Weber County Corrections directly.

How do Weber County jail visits work?

Public visits are video visits by appointment. Classified inmates generally receive one or two 25-minute visits per week depending on classification, and appointments must be scheduled at least one day in advance.

Where do I send Weber County inmate mail?

Current county rules accept only white prestamped or metered postcards sent through USPS to the inmate’s name and number at PO Box 14000, Ogden, UT 84412. Envelopes, pictures and adhesive stamps are returned.

How do I put money on a Weber County inmate account?

Use the jail-lobby kiosk during the published reception hours or InmateCanteen online. Processing fees apply. A trust-account deposit is not bail and does not fund the Securus phone account automatically.

Which court should I check after finding someone on the roster?

Use the court tied to the case. Second District Court handles felony and class A misdemeanor matters; justice courts handle many class B/C misdemeanors, infractions and traffic cases. Xchange can help locate public case information.

When should I use Utah DOC search?

Use Utah DOC Offender Search only when the person may be incarcerated by or on probation/parole with Utah DOC. People awaiting trial in Weber County Jail generally will not appear there.

What is the Kiesel Facility?

Weber County uses the Kiesel facility for Community Service inmates, Work Release inmates and Weekenders. It is part of the county Corrections system but serves a different custody/community-release role from the standard 12th Street jail population.
