Paid Remote Visits

• Remote HomeWAV visits are listed daily from 8:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
• Remote visits run 20 minutes.
• All visits are monitored.
• The Sheriff does not publish an inmate weekly limit for remote visits.
• The provider charges a fee.
• Review the provider total before adding funds.

Parental Visits

An inmate with a child younger than 12 may request a parental visit through Jail Administration. Approved inmates may receive one parental visit per week in a glass visitation booth.

Before Visiting

• Confirm the inmate remains in the facility.
• Bring photo identification containing a date of birth.
• Visitors younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
• Do not bring phones, coats, purses or bags into the visit area.
• Confirm temporary entrance instructions before driving.

Add Funds Without Using the Wrong Account

Published Deposit Methods

• Cash through the Access Corrections lobby kiosk.
• Debit or credit card through Access Corrections.
• Debit or credit card using the published telephone service.
• Money order through the facility’s approved mail procedure.

Items Available Through Commissary

The official page lists snacks, stationery, undergarments, games, hygiene products and grooming supplies. Weekly haircuts are charged to the inmate account.

Account and Money-Release Limits

• The jail does not disclose an inmate’s account balance to family or friends.
• Money may be released once at the inmate’s request with Jail Administration approval.
• A Link card is not released.
• Funds deposited into the wrong service may not be usable for the intended purpose.

Legal Mail Does Not Use the Personal-Mail Route

Attorney documents may be mailed through USPS or checked in directly with Jail Administration. Main Control does not accept legal documents.

Document Preparation Rules

• Use plain paper.
• Remove staples, paperclips and binder clips.
• Do not include folders or storage envelopes for the inmate.
• Ensure the documents concern the recipient’s current legal case.
• Expect privileged mail to be opened in the inmate’s presence and inspected for contraband.

Large Discovery Files

The Corrections page advises sending discovery on a CD, DVD or thumb drive when possible so approved computer review can be arranged.

Medical Screening, Sick Call and Inmate Programs

Published Medical Process

• Medical screening is performed during intake.
• A full physical is completed within the first 14 days.
• Qualified medical personnel conduct daily sick call.
• The jail has a six-bed medical ward.
• Medical services are not denied because an inmate lacks funds.

Documented Noncompliance

The monitoring report says officials could not provide documentation of required cell checks on the review date because of software issues. Officials advised that the checks were being completed and recorded and that the software was being updated.

A Jail Record May Not Show Every Active Hold

Sheriff Support Services enters and distributes warrants, orders of protection and civil no-contact orders. A person can also have a pending warrant or case without appearing in the current jail roster.

Before Assuming Release Is Possible

• Ask whether another county or agency has a hold.
• Check whether a probation or pretrial matter is pending.
• Search the Circuit Clerk docket.
• Confirm whether a warrant court differs from the current case court.
• Do not attempt to resolve a warrant through an unofficial payment service.

Temporary Entry During Construction

The current Corrections page says visitors must use a temporary Sheriff’s Office entrance along the 10th Street railroad tracks between Adams and Monroe Streets.

• Follow the current construction signs.
• Look for the metal overhang.
• Use the callbox to request entry.
• Follow the green line and signs to the jail lobby.
• Call before travelling because the construction route may change.
