Calcasieu Parish Jail Roster: Inmate Search & Bookings

Calcasieu Parish • Lake Charles custody guide

Check the Right Custody Record Before You Act

The official Calcasieu Parish Sheriff inmate roster is the safest starting point for current local custody, booking photographs and public charge information.

If you are checking a recent or same-day arrest, use the roster together with Louisiana VINE, then verify court, bond, release, facility and inmate-service details before travelling or paying.

How to Check Today’s Calcasieu Parish Bookings

“Who is in jail now?” and “who was booked today?” are different questions. A person can be booked, bond out or transfer before you run a current-custody search.

Lake Charles date Loading…

Use This Date as a Recent-Booking Clue

Open the Calcasieu LA VINE roster. When an Arrest Date column is displayed, compare today’s Lake Charles date with the entries. On desktop use Ctrl+F or Command+F; on mobile use your browser’s Find in Page feature.

Do not treat this as a live feed inside this article. The tool only gives you the current Lake Charles calendar date so you can search the official roster more efficiently.

If you need to know… Start here Important limitation
Is the person in custody now? Current CPSO inmate roster A release or transfer may occur after you view the page.
Was someone arrested or booked today? CPSO + Calcasieu LA VINE A same-day release may no longer appear as current custody.
Did the person get released or transferred? VINE status-change information A roster refresh is not second-by-second confirmation.
I need a booking from months or years ago CPSO public records or Clerk of Court The current roster is not a complete historical archive.
I need the final charge or disposition Calcasieu Parish Clerk of Court Booking charges can change after prosecution and court review.

After understanding the difference, use the official CPSO current inmate roster.

For the state-supported parish roster and custody notifications, use Calcasieu LA VINE.

Do not rely on an old “daily booking report” found in Google. Search results can preserve old arrests long after release. Always compare the booking date with current official custody.

How to Search the Calcasieu Parish Jail Roster

1

Open the CPSO Roster

Start on the Sheriff’s website rather than a private mugshot site, cached Google result or paid people-search service.

Open the official CPSO inmate roster.

2

Search the Legal Surname First

Try the last name before entering a long full name. When necessary, test the legal first name, middle name, maiden name, former surname or hyphenated spelling.

3

Compare the Entire Entry

The current roster can display a booking photograph and a “View Charges” option. Use those as additional identity clues rather than trusting the name alone.

4

Use VINE When Status May Change

CPSO profiles provide a supported “Notify Me of Status Change” route. This is more useful for release or transfer monitoring than leaving an old roster tab open.

5

Verify Court, Bond and Release Separately

A booking profile is not the full legal case. Use the Clerk of Court and correctional facility before relying on a court date, bond amount or release assumption.

Same-name shortcut: if several people match the surname, compare the available photograph, charge information and timing before assuming you found the correct person.

What Calcasieu Booking Information Actually Means

Roster detail What it can help confirm What it cannot prove
Name A possible matching custody record. Identity when several people have similar names.
Booking photograph An additional visual identity clue. Guilt, conviction or continued custody.
View Charges Allegations associated with the booking. The final charge, plea, dismissal, acquittal or sentence.
Arrest / booking timing Whether the record matches a recent event. The next court date or release time.
Bond information A preliminary bond clue when displayed. There is no second case, warrant or outside hold.
Roster presence Reported current parish custody at the time checked. Status will remain unchanged after the next update.

Booking is not conviction. Arrests, charges and booking photographs should never be presented as proof that a person committed a crime. Use filed court records for the legal outcome.

What to Do When Someone Is Missing From the Roster

No-Result Helper

Select the situation that best fits the search.

Recent Arrest

Transport, identification, medical intake and booking can occur before a public entry becomes visible. When the matter is not urgent, check again after another LA VINE roster cycle.

Same-Day Release

A current-custody roster is not a permanent arrest archive. Someone booked and released earlier in the day may no longer appear on the current list.

Lake Charles or Sulphur Case

A person may have a court matter even when they are not in parish custody. Also remember that Lake Charles City Court and Sulphur City Court maintain records separately from the 14th Judicial District Court.

When timing is urgent: contact the correctional facility rather than assuming a blank web search means the person was never booked or has already been released.

Which Calcasieu Facility Do You Actually Need?

CPSO lists three different major locations close together on Broad Street. Choosing the wrong street number can send a visitor, attorney or family member to the wrong building.

Official location Address Use this distinction
Calcasieu Correctional Center 5410 Broad St., Lake Charles, LA 70615 Confirm the person is physically housed here before visiting or mailing facility-specific material.
Calcasieu Sheriff’s Prison 5300 E. Broad St., Lake Charles, LA 70615 A separate correctional location; do not assume “Calcasieu jail” means the 5410 building.
CPSO Main Office 5400 E. Broad St., Lake Charles, LA 70615 Sheriff administrative business; not automatically the correct inmate-service entrance.

Navigation tip: verify the exact street number before using GPS. The three addresses are close enough that searching only “Calcasieu Sheriff” can point to the wrong building.

Use the official CPSO Resource Map after determining which facility you need.

How to Check a Calcasieu Criminal Court Case

The Calcasieu Parish Clerk of Court maintains criminal records for matters processed through the 14th Judicial District Court.

Calcasieu Parish Clerk of Court

General Criminal Records: Extension 165
Bonds: Extension 152
Archives: Extension 193

2026 Online Criminal Search Transition

The Clerk’s current online-search instructions say criminal-search users are being moved from the former Index account system toward Clerk Connect Criminal. An old bookmark or prior account workflow may therefore no longer be the correct route.

Use the official Online Search Services page for the current 2026 search path.

What to Have Ready Before Requesting a Record

The Clerk says a standard criminal-record request should include:

  • Defendant’s full name
  • Date of birth
  • Charge or charges
  • Year or approximate year of the charge

Do You Need a Request Form?

The Clerk states that no form is required for a standard criminal-record request.

How Long Can Retrieval Take?

5–10 min

Record on the premises

The Clerk lists this as the anticipated retrieval time when the requested file is already on site.

~3 days

Record in off-site storage

The Clerk lists approximately three days when a file must be retrieved from off-site storage.

Criminal Record Date Ranges

Record category Official range
Criminal records 1986 to present
Criminal background searches 1987 to present
Criminal minutes 1993 to present
Archived criminal materials 1910–1985

District Court vs City Court

Common reason for a “missing” case: the Parish Clerk says its office only has charges processed through the 14th Judicial District Court. Lake Charles City Court and Sulphur City Court records must be requested from those courts.

Court Docket Dates Can Change

The Clerk posts Criminal Priority Lists as a convenience but expressly warns that dates and names are subject to change by the judge or District Attorney.

Use the official criminal docket page for planning, then confirm a critical hearing with the court or attorney.

How to Check Bond and Release Without Making a Costly Mistake

CPSO provides a Court Records & Bonds area, and the Clerk’s Criminal Records Department lists a dedicated Bonds desk. Use them because a roster amount may not reflect every case, hold or later court order.

  • Confirm the correct defendant.
  • Confirm the controlling court.
  • Confirm the current bond amount.
  • Ask whether each charge has a separate bond.
  • Ask whether another agency or warrant hold exists.
  • Ask whether a judge changed the bond after booking.
  • Confirm where payment must be made.
  • Ask whether payment would satisfy every release requirement.
  • Save every receipt and confirmation number.

Bond Verification Script

“I am checking bond for [full legal name]. I found a current CPSO booking. Can you confirm the controlling court, current bond on every charge, whether another hold or separate case exists, and where the correct payment should be made?”

After gathering the booking details, review the official CPSO Court Records & Bonds page.

For court-side verification, call Criminal Records at 337-437-3558 and ask for the Bonds desk at extension 152.

Do not arrange pickup from an estimated release time alone. Court processing, another hold, transfer instructions, internal paperwork or a later order can change when someone actually leaves custody.

Why “Judicial Release” May Still Carry Strict Conditions

An official Division H 14th Judicial District Court form provides a useful example of why a release entry should not automatically be interpreted as “the criminal case is over.”

The form is specifically an Order for Judicial Release for Treatment. It is a template for a particular court division and situation—not a promise that every Calcasieu defendant qualifies.

The Order Can Specify the Entire Transfer

The form allows the court to specify the treatment facility, pickup person, pickup date and time, and the deadline for arriving at treatment.

Treatment Progress Can Be Reported to the Judge

The defendant can be required to authorize the treatment facility to provide confirmation of admission and progress reports to the presiding judge.

Leaving Treatment Can Send the Person Back to Jail

The form states that the defendant must participate in required programs and must not leave without permission. If treatment terminates early, it provides for transportation back to the Calcasieu Correctional Center under the applicable bond conditions.

Court Dates Continue

The second page states that the defendant must appear at all scheduled court dates. The template also includes remaining alcohol- and drug-free and refraining from criminal conduct.

Finishing Treatment Does Not Necessarily End Custody

The form states that after completion of the program, the defendant may be transported back to the Calcasieu Correctional Center and/or Sheriff’s Prison.

If the case actually involves this type of court order, review the explanation first and then open the official Division H Judicial Release Order PDF.

Use Louisiana VINE When Custody Status Matters

Louisiana VINE monitors adult inmates in parish jails and state prisons and allows supported custody-status notifications.

What VINE Helps With

  • Search supported custody information.
  • Register a phone number or email.
  • Receive supported custody-status changes.
  • Monitor release or transfer information.
  • Cross-check the parish roster.

What VINE Does Not Replace

  • The complete court docket
  • Every release condition
  • Current bond verification
  • Second-by-second jail confirmation
  • Emergency planning

Official refresh guidance: Louisiana says its parish VINE roster feature reuses jail-management-system data and updates the live roster every 30 minutes.

Use the official Louisiana VINE program page to understand notifications.

Use the official LA VINE roster directory to confirm participating parish systems.

Verify Inmate Services Before You Register or Pay

CPSO’s current website maintains Corrections FAQ, Inmate Mail and Inmate Funds pages. Provider names, schedules, account rules and fees can change, so this guide does not copy an unverified third-party provider or old visitation schedule.

Your task Confirm first Common mistake
Visit an inmate Current custody, physical facility, visit format, approval rules, ID and current schedule. Paying a video provider found on a third-party page before CPSO confirms it.
Receive calls or messages Current communication provider and whether phone, video or messaging use separate accounts. Funding the wrong service or assuming ordinary incoming calls are available.
Send personal mail Current mailing address, inmate identifier, return-address format and prohibited contents. Using an old address copied from a private jail directory.
Send legal material Whether legal mail uses a separate physical address or procedure. Treating personal-mail processing rules as legal-mail instructions.
Add inmate funds Current custody, exact person, account type, current provider and transaction fee. Sending money to a similarly named inmate or outdated provider.

Visitation Planning Checklist

  • Confirm the person is still in CPSO custody.
  • Confirm whether the person is at the Correctional Center or Sheriff’s Prison.
  • Ask whether visits are on-site, remote or both.
  • Confirm the current provider before creating an account.
  • Check visitor approval and photo-ID requirements.
  • Check rules for minors.
  • Confirm appointment lead time.
  • Review cancellation and refund rules before paying.

Start with the official Calcasieu Correctional Center page and its current Corrections FAQ.

Mail Checklist

  • Confirm current custody and housing first.
  • Get the exact inmate identifier when required.
  • Copy the current mailing address directly from CPSO.
  • Check whether legal mail follows a different route.
  • Use a complete sender return address when required.
  • Review photo, book, greeting-card and publication rules.
  • Do not send cash or irreplaceable originals without confirming acceptance.

After confirming the inmate, open the official CPSO Inmate Mail page.

Inmate Funds Checklist

  • Confirm the person has not been released or transferred.
  • Match the exact inmate before payment.
  • Identify whether commissary and communication money use separate systems.
  • Check the provider URL from CPSO itself.
  • Review all transaction fees.
  • Save the receipt and confirmation number.

Do not send money because of an unsolicited call or text. Verify any inmate payment or release demand by opening CPSO independently and using its current instructions.

Use the official CPSO Inmate Funds page immediately before making a deposit.

Where to Find an Older Calcasieu Booking or Arrest Record

Use the office that owns the record you actually need. A Sheriff incident report and a criminal court file are different records.

You need Correct source Have this ready
Current jail custody CPSO inmate roster Legal name and spelling variations
Sheriff incident or agency record CPSO Public Records Request Name, incident date, location and report number if known
14th JDC criminal record Calcasieu Parish Clerk of Court Name, DOB, charge and approximate year
Criminal file from 1910–1985 Clerk Archives Correct name and approximate year
Lake Charles or Sulphur City Court case The respective city court Defendant, court and case details

Sheriff Record Request Script

“I am requesting the releasable records for an incident involving [full name] on approximately [date] near [location]. The report number is [number, if known]. I am specifically requesting [incident report, arrest report, booking-related record or other identified document]. Please advise me of any fee before processing.”

For Sheriff-controlled records, use the official CPSO Public Records Request page.

For criminal court files, use the official Clerk criminal-record request instructions.

Check Louisiana State or Federal Custody

Louisiana VINE

Use the statewide system when the person may have moved between a parish jail and Louisiana state custody.

Open Louisiana VINE

Federal Bureau of Prisons

Use the federal locator when a federal sentence or transfer into BOP custody may be involved.

Open Federal Inmate Locator

Another Local Agency

For a very recent municipal arrest, confirm whether transfer into CPSO custody has actually occurred before concluding that the county roster is wrong.
