St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana official-source guide

Start With Custody, Then Verify the Court and Bond

The Louisiana roster is the fastest official starting point for checking whether someone appears in St. Tammany Parish custody.

Because custody, court, bond and release data can change through different systems, this guide shows which source to use before paying, visiting, mailing or arranging transportation.

Search the Official St. Tammany Parish Roster

Louisiana’s LA VINE roster receives custody data from the jail-management-system feed. The state says parish rosters are refreshed every 30 minutes and allow users to register for supported victim notifications.

What “updated every 30 minutes” means: the roster is refreshed regularly, but an arrest, release, transfer or data correction can occur between updates. It is not guaranteed second-by-second confirmation.

Current Custody Versus Recent Release

Current roster

Use the LA VINE roster when checking whether someone presently appears in St. Tammany Parish custody.

Recent release

Use the Sheriff’s roster menu or recent-release option when a person appeared earlier but no longer appears on the current list.

After understanding the timing limitation, open the official St. Tammany LA VINE roster.

The Louisiana LA VINE roster directory explains how the statewide feed and notification registration work.

Arrest is not conviction: a jail entry, booking photograph or charge does not prove guilt. Use the filed court record for current charges and outcomes.

How to Search for a St. Tammany Inmate

1

Open the Official Louisiana Roster

Avoid copied mugshot pages, paid people-search services and cached search snippets. Start with LA VINE.

2

Search the Legal Name

Try the correct surname first. When necessary, try a middle name, maiden name, former surname or hyphenated spelling.

3

Compare the Complete Entry

Review every available identifier, including date of birth, gender, race, booking information, photograph and charge details.

4

Check Recent Release or Another Facility

When the person was listed earlier, check recent releases. For a recent Slidell arrest, also determine whether the person remains at Slidell City Jail.

5

Verify Court, Bond and Release

Use the Clerk of Court, 22nd Judicial District Court and Bond Office before paying, attending court or arranging pickup.

Booking Information and Mugshots Explained

Roster detail What it may help confirm What it does not prove
Name and date of birth Helps distinguish people with similar names. That every public detail is error-free or immediately current.
Gender and race Additional identifiers supplied through the jail data feed. Identity when other details conflict.
Booking photograph A visual clue associated with the booking. Guilt, conviction or continued custody.
Booking date When the displayed jail intake occurred. The alleged offense date, court date or release time.
Listed charges Allegations associated with the jail booking. Final filed charges, plea, dismissal, acquittal or conviction.
Displayed bond Public bond information available when the profile was refreshed. Current eligibility, every hold, all fees or completed release conditions.

Why an Old Mugshot Is Not Current Custody Proof

Third-party sites may retain booking photographs after release, dismissal, acquittal, expungement or a later arrest. Always return to the official roster and compare the booking date.

St. Tammany Parish Jail or Slidell City Jail?

Louisiana’s official correctional directory lists both facilities. A recent Slidell arrest does not automatically mean the person has already been transferred to the parish jail.

Facility Official contact When to check
St. Tammany Parish Jail 985-276-1021
1200 Champagne Street, Covington
Parish custody, bond, corrections services and parish booking.
Slidell City Jail 985-646-4220
2112 Sgt. Alfred Drive, Slidell
A recent municipal arrest or short-term city holding situation.

Use the official Louisiana St. Tammany facility directory after identifying the arresting agency.

How to Search St. Tammany Criminal Court Records

The Clerk of Court’s former online case-search portal is currently unavailable. The Clerk now directs civil and criminal searches to re:SearchLA while migrating to a new case-management system.

Step 1: Use re:SearchLA for Online Case Searches

Search by the available party name or docket information and carefully match the parish, case number and defendant.

Open re:SearchLA only after confirming that St. Tammany Parish is the correct court jurisdiction.

Step 2: Use the Criminal Department for Records and Minutes

The Criminal Department processes criminal cases and allows the public to research available misdemeanors, felonies, traffic matters, court minutes, defendant histories and criminal background sheets. Sealed cases are not publicly available.

Step 3: Check the 22nd Judicial District Court Calendar

The court publishes a 2026 calendar covering matters such as felony trials and motions, misdemeanors, traffic, arraignments, juvenile matters, drug court, family cases and civil proceedings.

Use the official 22nd Judicial District Court calendar for schedule planning, then confirm any critical appearance with the Clerk or attorney.

Criminal Record and Copy Fees

The Clerk’s 2025–26 information guide lists the following Criminal Department charges. Confirm the current total before ordering because fees and document length can change.

Service Listed fee Practical use
Criminal background search $20 per name A Clerk search for the requested name; verify identity carefully.
Defendant history report $1 per page Review listed defendant-history information.
Certified extract of court minutes $10 May be needed for a cash-bond refund process.
Standard copy $1 per page Non-certified copies of available records.
Redacted copy $2 per page Copies requiring protected information to be removed.
Certified copy $5 certification fee Officially certified court documents.
Clearance letter $12 Ask the Clerk whether this is the correct document for the intended purpose.

Review the explanation first, then open the official Clerk of Court information guide PDF.

St. Tammany Bond Office Rules

Verify the current case, amount, bond type and every hold before paying. The Correctional Facility does not write bonds for other agencies.

Bond Office Timing

  • The Bond Office closes daily from 5:00 to 6:00 a.m.
  • Extraditions are not conducted on weekends.
  • 72-hour-hearing days can change around holidays and court schedules.
  • Bond changes from those hearings are usually unavailable until after 1:00 p.m.

Official Bond-Related Fees

Fee or requirement Official guidance What to verify
Bond processing $30 for each bond written The number of separate bonds involved.
Bondsman facility fee 2% of the bond amount This is separate from the bondsman’s private premium.
Court-cost attachment $268 paid in full Whether an attachment applies to the specific case.
Credit-card transaction 2.5% The final total before authorization.
Cash payment Exact change required Amount, fees and accepted denominations.
Identification LA Wallet is not accepted Which physical government ID is required.

Cash Bond

A cash bond requires the full amount plus the $30 fee. A refund may be available after the case is completely disposed, less amounts retained for court costs and fees.

Cash-Bond Refund Workflow

  1. Get certified court minutes from the Clerk of Court.
  2. Take the certified minutes and bond receipt to Tickets and Fines.
  3. The refund process is started after the documents are reviewed.
  4. The Sheriff warns that completion can take up to six weeks.

Property Bond

The property must have clear equity sufficient for the required amount. A $30 processing fee also applies.

Professional Surety

The Sheriff says professional bondsmen generally charge 10%–14% of the amount posted. Obtain private fees, collateral terms and refund conditions in writing.

Personal Surety

A signer needs a valid Louisiana driver’s license and $30 cash and becomes legally responsible for ensuring that the defendant attends each court date covered by the bond.

Potential Personal-Surety Disqualifications

  • Open warrant or wanted status
  • Younger than 21
  • Affiliation with law enforcement
  • Affiliation with the judicial system or an attorney
  • Currently out on bond
  • Currently on probation or parole

Read the official St. Tammany Bond Office instructions before paying or travelling.

Bond Verification Script

“I need to verify bond for [full legal name]. Is the person currently held at St. Tammany, which case and bond type apply, what amount and fees are currently due, does another hold exist, and will payment satisfy every release condition?”

Why the Public Cannot Get an Exact Release Time

The Bond Office states that parish-jail release dates are provided to offenders rather than the public. An offender may write to the Bond Office through the housing-unit kiosk.

A Scheduled Release Date Is a Full-Day Window

Release is not guaranteed at 12:01 a.m. The official guidance says it may occur at any time from 12:01 a.m. through 11:59 p.m. on the scheduled date.

Payment Does Not Always Complete Release

  • Another agency may have a hold.
  • An extradition or transfer may be pending.
  • A new court order may change the bond.
  • Identification and internal processing may remain incomplete.
  • Several separate cases may require separate bonds.

Transportation warning: do not wait outside the facility or begin a long trip based only on a predicted release time.

St. Tammany Parish Jail Visitation

The Sheriff currently separates on-site video visits, remote video visits and professional visits. Do not assume traditional contact visiting is available.

On-Site Visit Planning

  • Schedule at least 48 hours in advance.
  • Appointments can generally be scheduled up to two weeks ahead.
  • Cancel at least 24 hours in advance when required.
  • Confirm the current visit duration and weekly limit.
  • Bring the required physical government-issued identification.
  • Ask about minor visitors and required documentation.
  • Confirm arrival time, clothing rules and property restrictions.
  • Understand that lockdowns or operations can cancel visits.

Remote Video Visits

Remote visits may require a provider account, compatible device, identity approval and payment. Review rates and testing requirements before scheduling.

Professional Visits

Attorneys and approved professionals use separate procedures and may need to provide letterhead, bar information, inmate details and requested appointment information.

Visitation telephone: 985-276-1047
Professional requests: visitrequest@stpso.com

Use the official visitation page to verify the current schedule and provider.

How St. Tammany Inmate Mail Works

Non-legal and non-commercial correspondence uses the JailATM electronic or scanning process. Legal and approved commercial mail follows a different facility procedure.

Scanning-Mail Format

JailATM — St. Tammany Parish Jail
INMATE ID: INMATE FULL NAME
2252 Tower Drive, Suite 108-251
Monroe, LA 71201

Recheck before mailing: copy the inmate ID, complete name and all address lines from the live Sheriff page. A scanning address or vendor can change.

Mail Preparation Checklist

  • Confirm the person remains in St. Tammany custody.
  • Use the exact inmate ID.
  • Use the full legal name shown by the facility.
  • Include a complete return address when required.
  • Review photo, page, content and attachment restrictions.
  • Do not send cash, checks or prohibited property.
  • Do not send irreplaceable original photographs or documents.

Legal Mail

Attorney, court and other qualifying legal correspondence should use the current legal-mail procedure rather than the personal-mail scanning route.

Read the official inmate mail and money page before sending anything.

How to Add Money to an Inmate Account

The personal-mail scanning system and the inmate-account deposit system are not the same service. The Sheriff links account deposits to its approved financial-services payment provider.

  • Confirm current custody before paying.
  • Match the full name and required inmate identifier.
  • Review the transaction fee.
  • Verify whether the money is for commissary, telephone or another account category.
  • Save the confirmation number and receipt.
  • Do not send cash through the mail.
  • Do not use a payment link sent by an unknown caller or social-media account.

After confirming the correct person, use the inmate-account deposit provider linked by STPSO.

Scam warning: jail staff do not need gift cards, cryptocurrency or an unofficial person-to-person transfer to release someone.

Phone Calls, Property and Medication

Task Ask Corrections to confirm Why confirmation matters
Receive inmate calls Current provider, account setup, blocked-number help, rates and calling windows. Providers and pricing can change.
Release personal property Inmate authorization, recipient ID, pickup entrance and available hours. Property generally cannot be released solely because a visitor requests it.
Deliver medication Whether outside medication is accepted, container requirements and delivery instructions. Facility medical staff control treatment and administration.
Send books or publications Approved vendor, binding, content and shipping requirements. Directly delivered or unapproved items may be rejected.

Service-Verification Script

“I am checking the current procedure for [calls, property, medication or publications]. Could you confirm the approved provider or process, required inmate information, current fees or limits and anything that would cause the request to be denied?”

Sheriff Reports Versus Court Records

A jail profile is not an arrest report, offense report, dispatch record, probable-cause document or filed court case.

Record needed Correct office Useful identifying details
Arrest or booking report STPSO Criminal Records or public-record portal Name, arrest date, incident number and arresting agency.
Incident or offense report STPSO Criminal Records Date, address, complainant and report number.
Filed criminal case Clerk of Court Criminal Department Defendant, docket number and court division.
Court minutes Clerk of Court Case number, hearing date and document type.
Sealed matter Court or licensed attorney Public online access may not be available.

Sheriff Criminal Records

The Sheriff’s Criminal Records Division handles records connected with criminal arrests, offenses and incidents.

Open the official STPSO Criminal Records page after identifying the report needed.

Clerk Criminal Records

Use the Clerk for filed cases, court minutes, criminal histories maintained by the court and certified copies.

Clear Records-Request Wording

“I request the releasable existing [arrest report, incident report, offense report or identified record] concerning [incident or person], occurring approximately on [date] near [location]. The report or case number is [number, if known]. Please advise me of any fee before processing.”

No. A booking photograph, arrest or listed charge is not a conviction. Filed charges, dismissals, pleas and outcomes must be checked through the court.
