Use the Right Record Before You Pay, Visit or Assume Release
Cassia County operates separate public tools for current jail custody, recent bookings and outstanding warrants. Those records answer different questions and should not be treated as interchangeable.
This guide helps you find the correct record, understand $0 bond and OR release, verify court status, schedule visits, use the correct digital-mail address, add commissary funds and check another custody system when the person is no longer in the county roster.
Choose the Exact Question You Need Answered
Most bad inmate-search experiences happen because the searcher opens the wrong record. Start with the question, then use the official source designed to answer it.
Start With the Official Cassia County Jail Roster
The official Cassia County roster has a search field for name or booking number, sorting controls and page navigation. Use it when the main question is whether someone appears in the county’s current public jail records.
Use the Roster When
You want a current county-jail custody check and already have the person’s name or booking number.
Do Not Use It Alone When
Your real question is today’s arrest, an outstanding warrant, a court date, legal outcome, exact release time or another agency’s hold.
County warning: recent changes in inmate status may not immediately appear in the online database. Cassia County says actual status should be confirmed in person or by calling 208-878-1000.
After understanding that limitation, open the official Cassia County Jail Roster.
Which Official Source Should You Open?
Do not enter a real inmate’s name into this helper. It only identifies the correct destination for your task.
Cassia County Record Router
Jail Roster vs Recent Bookings vs Outstanding Warrants
| Official record | Best use | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Jail Roster | Current public county-jail search. | Treating a saved roster result as current hours or days later. |
| Recent Bookings | Checking newer booking/intake records. | Assuming every recent booking is still in custody. |
| Outstanding Warrants | Checking public Cassia County warrant information. | Assuming an outstanding warrant means the person is already jailed. |
| Idaho iCourt | Public case, filing, hearing and court information. | Using a court search as a live jail-location tracker. |
Current Custody
Search the county’s live roster interface.
Newer Booking
Use the separate report when intake was recent.
Outstanding Warrant
Use the warrant database instead of the inmate roster.
How Current Is Cassia County’s Online Jail Information?
The current Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center page says the jail database is updated frequently but warns that recent changes may not yet appear.
Cassia County also still has an older “Who Has Been Booked” page stating that its database is updated every 24 hours. Because the county’s own pages use different update wording, it is safer to avoid claiming a fixed real-time refresh interval.
Practical rule: use online records to find a likely match. Use 208-878-1000 when the answer affects bond, medication, travel, visitation, transportation or release pickup.
Situations Most Likely to Outrun the Public Website
- Arrest happened only recently.
- Booking or identification is still processing.
- A judge just changed bond or release conditions.
- The person just posted bond.
- A transfer to another agency is underway.
- A sentence or hold was just entered or cleared.
- The person was recently released.
How to Search the Cassia County Jail Roster Correctly
Open Cassia County’s Own Roster
Start with the county source rather than an ad-heavy people search, copied mugshot site or search-engine snippet.
Search the Legal Name
Try the legal first or last name. The county interface also accepts a booking number when you already know it.
Try Alternate Name Forms
Use maiden names, hyphenated surnames, multi-part surnames, middle names and reasonable spelling variations before deciding there is no record.
Compare More Than the Name
When shown, compare age, sex, booking date/time, charge information, bond and agency or hold information.
Check Recent Bookings for a New Arrest
If the event just occurred, switch to the separate Recent Bookings report before assuming the roster search failed.
Move Legal Questions to Court Records
Use Idaho iCourt and the Cassia County court office for case status, hearing details, filed charges and legal outcomes.
What Cassia County Recent Booking Records Can Show
The current Recent Bookings interface displays records with identifying information, booked date/time, charge descriptions, statute or charge numbers and bond amounts. The exact information can vary by record.
| Booking detail | What it helps answer | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Potential identity match. | That two people with the same name are the same person. |
| Age / sex | Helps distinguish similar names. | Complete identity or court history. |
| Booked date/time | When that booking record entered the system. | Current incarceration hours or days later. |
| Statute / charge | The allegation associated with the booking record. | Conviction or final prosecutor filing. |
| Bond | A starting point for release questions. | That payment is possible or release is guaranteed. |
| Photo | Can help distinguish the correct person. | Guilt or case outcome. |
Presumption of innocence: a booking photo, arrest, warrant or criminal charge is not a conviction. Charges can change after prosecutor review and court proceedings.
What a $0.0 Bond Can Mean in Cassia County
This is one of the most useful Cassia-specific details. The county Public Defender page explains that $0.0 does not have one universal meaning.
No-Bond Hold
A probation violation can result in a hold where release on monetary bond is not currently an option.
Serving a Sentence
The record may display $0.0 because the person is serving a sentence rather than awaiting a conventional cash bond.
Another Count Has the Bond
One count may display $0.0 while a different count in the same case shows the actual bond amount.
$0 Bond and Hold Decoder
Never interpret $0 as “free release.” Check every count, then confirm the controlling court or agency and current jail status.
For the county’s own explanation, review Cassia County’s Public Defender information.
What “OR Release” Means
Cassia County explains that OR means release on the person’s own recognizance.
That means release is based on an agreement to return for required court proceedings and follow any conditions set by the judge rather than payment of a monetary bond.
OR Does Not Mean “No Conditions”
A judge can impose conditions such as appearing at hearings or complying with testing and other court requirements. Use the actual court order or court record when conditions matter.
Do not use this page to interpret a release order. For legal questions about conditions, speak with the person’s attorney or the appropriate court.
What If the Person Is Not Listed?
Booking Is Still Processing
Check Recent Bookings and retry the roster later. For a time-sensitive answer, call 208-878-1000.
Name Is Indexed Differently
Try a maiden surname, hyphenated version, multi-part surname, middle name or alternate spelling.
The Person Was Released
A booking record can remain relevant after the person leaves jail. Use iCourt if the legal case continues.
Another Authority Is Involved
Minidoka County, IDOC, U.S. Marshals, immigration authorities or another jurisdiction may control custody.
Juvenile Records Are Not Included in the Public Jail Database
Cassia County specifically states that its online jail information does not include juvenile offenders. Do not keep searching the adult roster expecting a juvenile entry to appear.
Do not infer “not arrested” from “not listed.” The county itself warns that recent status changes may lag behind the online database.
Why a Cassia Search Can Involve Minidoka County
Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center operates within the Cassia-Minidoka joint-service structure. Cassia County’s public notices identify the Criminal Justice Center as one of the joint powers programs involving the two counties.
That means the physical jail location does not always identify which county or agency controls the underlying case.
| If the record points to | What that means for your search |
|---|---|
| Cassia County | Use Cassia County court records and Mini-Cassia staff for local case/custody verification. |
| Minidoka County | The person may be physically housed in Burley while a Minidoka case or hold controls the legal matter. |
| IDOC | State correctional custody or supervision may be involved. |
| U.S. Marshals | Federal detention or a federal hold may be involved. |
| ICE / immigration | A county bond field may not explain federal immigration custody or release. |
Question to ask jail staff: “Which agency or court currently controls release on this record?”
How to Check Cassia County Court Records and Hearings
Use Idaho’s iCourt system when you need case-level information instead of jail custody information.
Use iCourt for Questions Like
- Is there a public criminal case?
- What is the case number?
- When is the next available public hearing?
- What court is handling the case?
- Were charges filed or later changed?
- Was a bond or release order entered?
Once you have the correct legal name or case number, open Idaho iCourt.

When This Office Is More Relevant Than the Jail
- You need legal advice about the charge.
- You need an attorney to interpret a no-bond hold.
- You need help understanding release conditions.
- You need representation in a criminal case and qualify for appointed counsel.
- You need legal strategy rather than custody-status information.
After confirming that legal representation is the need, review the official Cassia County Public Defender page.
Bond and Release Checklist
- Confirm the person is still in Mini-Cassia custody.
- Confirm the correct legal name and booking number.
- Review every charge or hold, not only the first one.
- Identify Cassia, Minidoka, IDOC, federal or other agency involvement.
- Check every displayed bond amount.
- Do not assume $0 means release without payment.
- Check iCourt when a court order controls the issue.
- Ask whether an additional hold prevents release.
- Confirm the approved payment method before paying.
- Do not confuse JailATM commissary funds with bond.
- Ask whether release processing is complete before arranging pickup.
Release Verification Call Script
“I am checking current custody and release information for [full legal name], booking number [if known]. The online record shows [bond/hold]. Is that still current, are there any additional holds, which court or agency controls release, and should anyone make payment or pickup arrangements yet?”

How to Schedule a Mini-Cassia Jail Visit
Cassia County directs friends and family to InmateSales to create an account and schedule visitation.
Before You Schedule
- Confirm the person remains housed at Mini-Cassia.
- Create the required InmateSales account.
- Choose only appointment availability shown by the scheduling system.
- Make sure you are approved or authorized to visit.
- Confirm any special restrictions before travelling.
Lobby Restrictions Published by Cassia County
- No cell phones.
- No cameras.
- No food or drink inside the lobby.
- No electronic devices such as music players, games or electronic toys.
- No more than two adults may visit a single inmate at the same time.
- Children must remain supervised.
- Visitors must conduct themselves in a quiet and orderly manner.
Probation, Parole and No-Contact Restrictions
Probationers and parolees must have written authorization from their supervising probation or parole authority.
Cassia County also says a visitor cannot be a party listed on a CPOR/no-contact record for the person they intend to visit.
Do not drive to the jail expecting a walk-in visit. Registration, approval and scheduling rules should be handled first.
After reviewing the restrictions, open Cassia County’s Friends and Family of Inmates page.
Use the county-directed InmateSales scheduling service only after confirming current custody.
Use the Correct Mini-Cassia Inmate Mail Address
Cassia County has two official mail PDFs that can look contradictory unless you read the dates and purpose carefully.
The specific Notice of Change to Mail Procedures says that effective December 13, 2022, personal mail is no longer accepted directly by Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center. Personal mail is instead scanned by the Securus Digital Mail Center.
Personal Mail: Securus Digital Mail Center
Sender:Full Name
Address
City, State ZIP
Recipient:
Inmate Name and Securus ID#
C/O Securus Digital Mail Center-Mini-Cassia
PO Box 969
Lebanon, MO 65536
What Happens to Personal Mail?
- Mail received at the digital center is scanned.
- The inmate views scanned mail on tablets and/or kiosks.
- Pictures and drawings can be accepted for scanning.
- Paper exceeding 8.5 × 11 inches cannot be scanned.
- Non-paper items are returned to sender.
- Packages are returned to sender.
- Certified mail is returned to sender.
- If you want the original personal mail returned, include a self-addressed stamped envelope.
- An incorrectly addressed envelope can be delayed or returned.
Legal Mail and Approved Publications: Send Directly to Burley
Sender:Full Name
Address
City, State ZIP
Recipient:
Inmate Name and ID#
Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center
1415 Albion Ave.
Burley, ID 83318
Legal mail and qualifying publications sent directly by a publisher, distributor or authorized retailer are the stated exceptions to the digital personal-mail route.
Additional Mail Restrictions the County Still Publishes
Cassia County also hosts a separate general “Sending Mail to Inmates” PDF. It contains useful content restrictions but still shows the direct Burley address as the general correspondence address. Because the newer December 2022 notice specifically changed the route for personal mail, use the newer notice for the address and confirm the older PDF’s content limits before relying on them.
| General mail PDF says | How to use that information now |
|---|---|
| No more than 2 greeting cards in an individual mailing/package. | Treat as a published content restriction; confirm before mailing. |
| No more than 10 papers/photos or combination thereof. | Verify with jail because personal mail is now scanned through Missouri. |
| No more than 2 bound printed materials. | Books/magazines must also satisfy direct publisher/bookstore rules. |
| No cash, checks or money orders. | Use the approved account/payment process instead. |
| No explicit sexual material. | Content can be rejected under facility rules. |
| No stained, taped or glued material. | Avoid sending altered or contaminated materials. |
| Third-class mail is not accepted. | Confirm applicability to the type of mail you intend to send. |
Address rule: use the December 2022 change notice for personal-mail routing. Do not copy the older PDF’s direct Burley address for an ordinary personal letter without confirming with jail staff.
Before mailing personal correspondence, open the official Mail Procedure Change notice.
For the county’s separately published content rules, review the official Sending Mail to Inmates PDF.
How to Add Money to an Inmate Commissary Account
Cassia County directs friends and family to JailATM for inmate commissary deposits.
Before You Deposit
- Search the current roster again.
- Confirm the full legal name.
- Confirm the inmate remains at Mini-Cassia.
- Make sure the provider shows the correct facility.
- Review any transaction fee before payment.
- Save your confirmation or receipt.
Important account distinction: JailATM commissary money is not automatically bond, a court fine, restitution or a telephone account.
Once identity and custody are confirmed, open JailATM.
Inmate Phone and Communication Questions
Cassia County’s current Friends and Family page explicitly identifies InmateSales for visit scheduling, but the county page audited for this guide does not publish a sufficiently detailed current inmate-call rate table or telephone-account procedure.
For that reason, this guide does not assume that a visitation provider automatically controls every inmate phone service.
Call the Facility Before Purchasing Phone Credit If
- You do not know the current telephone provider.
- The inmate was recently transferred.
- A call is blocked.
- You found conflicting provider names online.
- You need current rates or payment methods.
Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center: 208-878-1000.
Use Idaho VINE for Custody and Court Notifications
Cassia County’s Court Assistance resources link users to VINE, and the Idaho Sheriffs’ Association describes Idaho VINE as a statewide notification service connected with jail booking systems and court notifications.
VINE Can Be More Useful Than Repeated Roster Refreshing When
- You need notification of a jail release.
- You need custody-status change alerts.
- You need court appearance notifications supported by the service.
- You are monitoring a safety-related custody change.
Use Idaho VINELink for the current online service.
State-prison caution: notification availability can differ between county-jail and IDOC records. For a person already transferred to Idaho state corrections, also check IDOC’s own current Resident/Client Search and victim-services information.
How to Request a Cassia County Sheriff’s Record
A jail roster or booking record is not the complete incident report, probable-cause document, investigative file or court case.
Prepare These Details Before Requesting Records
- Full legal name.
- Approximate incident or arrest date.
- Location of the incident when known.
- Report, case or booking number when available.
- A clear description of the specific existing record needed.
129 East 14th Street
Burley, ID 83318
Records: 208-878-1107
Non-emergency Dispatch: 208-878-2251
After identifying the record, use Cassia County’s Forms page to locate the Public Records Request form.
Access can vary: do not assume every investigation, protected record, juvenile record, victim record or confidential document is publicly releasable.
How to Report Sexual Abuse or Harassment at Mini-Cassia
The Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center publishes a zero-tolerance PREA policy and multiple reporting contacts.

What the 2025 Annual PREA Report Says
The facility’s 2025 Annual PREA Report covers January 1 through December 31, 2025 and states that there were zero PREA allegations during 2025.
The narrative says allegation reviews examine issues such as policy effectiveness, staffing, physical-plant factors and video monitoring when incidents occur.
Source-quality note: the 2025 PDF also contains a table headed “2023 PREA Statistics.” Because that table is labeled for a different year, this guide does not present those table figures as 2025 statistics.
For current reporting contacts, open the official Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center page.
For the annual report itself, open the 2025 PREA Annual Report PDF.
Check Idaho State, Federal or Another County
Idaho Department of Correction
Use IDOC when the person may now be in state custody or under state correctional supervision.
IDOC Freshness Warning
IDOC says its database is updated daily but can still lag behind changes in location or status. Use it as the state source, not as an instant-transfer tracker.
Federal Bureau of Prisons
Use the federal locator if the person may be serving a federal sentence or held within the BOP system.
Other Idaho County
If the arresting city, agency or court points elsewhere, switch to the correct county rather than repeatedly searching Cassia.

BOP limitation: a U.S. Marshals hold does not necessarily mean the person will immediately appear in the Bureau of Prisons locator. Confirm the controlling authority with the jail when a federal hold appears.

Cassia County Jail Roster FAQs
Where is the official Cassia County jail roster?
Cassia County publishes its official Jail Roster online with a search box for a name or booking number. The county warns that recent inmate-status changes may not immediately appear online and says current status should be confirmed by phone or in person.
What is the difference between Cassia County Jail Roster and Recent Bookings?
The Jail Roster is the main current-custody search. Recent Bookings is a separate report showing recently created booking records. A recent booking does not prove that the person is still incarcerated.
What does a zero-dollar bond mean on the Cassia County roster?
A zero-dollar bond does not have one fixed meaning. Cassia County’s Public Defender page explains that it can represent a no-bond probation hold, a person serving a sentence, or a count showing zero because another count contains the actual bond amount. Verify the court record and jail status.
What does OR release mean in Cassia County?
OR means release on the person’s own recognizance. Cassia County explains that the person is released based on an agreement to appear for court and comply with any conditions ordered by the judge rather than because a monetary bond was paid.
How do I check a Cassia County court date?
Use Idaho iCourt for available public case and hearing information. The current Cassia County District and Magistrate Court contact is 208-878-7351 at the Cassia County Judicial Center, 1559 Overland Avenue in Burley.
How do I schedule a visit at Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center?
Cassia County directs visitors to InmateSales to create an account and schedule visits. Visitors must follow approval, no-contact, probation or parole, child-supervision, electronics and lobby restrictions.
Where do I send personal inmate mail for Mini-Cassia?
Personal mail goes to the Securus Digital Mail Center-Mini-Cassia, PO Box 969, Lebanon, Missouri 65536 and must include the inmate name and Securus ID number. Legal mail and qualifying publisher-sent publications go directly to the Burley facility.
How do I put money on a Mini-Cassia inmate commissary account?
Cassia County directs friends and family to JailATM for commissary deposits. Confirm the person’s identity and current custody before depositing funds and do not confuse commissary money with bond or court payments.
Why is someone missing from the Cassia County jail roster?
The person may still be processing, may have been released, may be listed under another spelling, may be held for Minidoka County or another agency, may be a juvenile whose record is not included, or may have transferred to Idaho state or federal custody.
Does a Cassia County booking record prove guilt?
No. A booking, arrest, charge, warrant or jail roster entry is not proof of conviction. Use Idaho court records for public case status and final legal outcomes.
