Seattle Jail Roster: Find the Correct Inmate, Booking and Court Record

Seattle does not operate a separate public adult city-jail roster. The City contracts with King County for incarceration services, so the correct starting point is King County’s Subject Lookup Tool, which identifies whether an adult is in custody, the facility, booking number and current booking details.

The main Seattle-specific distinction

Seattle Police Can Make the Arrest, but King County Runs the Adult Jail System

The City of Seattle states that it contracts with King County facilities for incarceration services. This is why searching for a separate Seattle Police jail roster can send visitors to outdated or unofficial directories.

Seattle city role

Seattle Police and Municipal Court

Seattle Police is the arresting/investigating agency in many city cases. Seattle Municipal Court handles Seattle misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, civil infractions and other qualifying city offenses.

King County role

DAJD custody

King County Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention operates the adult jail facilities and the public Subject Lookup system. It tells you where the person is actually housed.

Do not assume “Seattle arrest = KCCF.” King County operates adult detention facilities in both Seattle and Kent. The Subject Lookup Tool should determine the actual facility before you visit, mail legal material, or travel.

For the broader Seattle-and-Kent county system, use the existing King County Jail Roster guide. This page is intentionally focused on Seattle arrests and Seattle-specific court/records routing.

How to Search the Seattle Jail Roster

  1. Open King County Subject Lookup.
Do not start with a commercial mugshot or people-search page. The City of Seattle itself directs jail users to King County facilities.
  2. Search the legal name.
The official lookup supports first and last name and additional filters such as date of birth, facility and current-custody status.
  3. Use the booking number when you have it.
King County calls the booking number a Book of Arrest or B/A number in some jail instructions. It is required for several mail and money tasks.
  4. Confirm the facility.
The result can identify King County Correctional Facility in Seattle or another King County adult facility. Do not travel until you know the current housing location.
  5. Compare booking date and arresting agency.
The lookup can show the current booking’s arresting agency, booking number and booking date. Seattle Police may be the arresting agency even though King County operates the jail.
  6. Move the legal case to the correct court.
Use Seattle Municipal Court for qualifying city misdemeanor matters and King County Superior Court for felony cases rather than treating jail data as the final legal record.

How to Check Seattle Bookings From the Last 24 Hours

King County’s Subject Lookup has a specific Subjects Booked in Last 24 Hours option. This is the best official route for the “Seattle daily bookings” intent because it uses the same county detention system that actually houses Seattle adults.

Lookup fieldWhat it helps answerDo not assume
Name / Preferred NameMatches the person’s custody record.Name alone proves identity.
FacilityShows which King County adult jail currently applies.Every Seattle arrest remains in the Seattle facility.
Arresting AgencyShows which agency is attached to the current booking. The arresting agency operates the jail or handles the court case.
Booking NumberProvides the B/A identifier used for jail tasks. It is the court cause number.
Booking DateShows when the current booking was entered. It is the final charge-filing or arraignment date.
UCNProvides another King County subject identifier. It replaces the court cause number.
Booking ≠ conviction. A recent jail entry documents a custody/booking event. Filed charges, amendments, dismissals, pleas and final disposition belong to the appropriate court record.
Washington privacy rule changes the search intent

Seattle Mugshots Are Not a Public Free-Search Feature

King County states that jail booking photographs are confidential under Washington public-records law. They are not treated as a routine public mugshot gallery.

King County says a booking photo can be released to:

  • The person who was booked.
  • An attorney representing that person.
  • Law enforcement.
  • The courts.
  • A person with written permission from the person depicted.

A booking photo may also be requested with qualifying written permission or a judge-signed court order. DAJD Records handles those requests at 206-477-5130.

SEO/user-value correction: a third-party website advertising “free Seattle mugshots” is not equivalent to the official King County jail record. Use Subject Lookup for custody and DAJD Records for a legally releasable booking photograph.

Court controls the bail amount

How Bail Works for a Seattle Jail Booking

King County says bail for adults can be paid at KCCF in Seattle or MRJC in Kent between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., seven days a week.

King County jail payment methods

  • Cash.
  • Cashier’s check.
  • Money order.

Personal checks are not accepted. Cashier’s checks and money orders require verification and can delay processing. A private bail bond agency is separate from King County and can have its own payment arrangements.

Seattle Municipal Court bail/bond

For a Seattle Municipal Court case, the City also has a court cashier route. The current court page says a cashier is available for bail/bond outs from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. daily, with scheduled breaks. After-hours building access may require calling 206-615-0850 or 206-684-5646.

Do not pay based only on a screenshot or third-party bail ad. First identify the booking, current facility, court and current bail amount. Payment does not guarantee immediate release if another hold or court condition applies.

Custody-change alerts

WA VINE Notifications

Washington VINE provides custody-status information and allows members of the public to register for notifications about supported custody changes. Washington DOC also links users to WA VINE from its incarcerated-person search resources.

  • Notifications can include phone, text, email and app options depending on the service.
  • Do not rely on automated notification technology as the only part of an immediate safety plan.

Use Seattle booking information responsibly

What a Seattle Jail Booking Does Not Prove

  • An arrest is not a conviction.
  • A booking entry does not establish the final criminal charge.
  • An arresting agency is not necessarily the current custodian.
  • A booking number is not the same as the court cause number.
  • A bail amount can change and payment does not guarantee immediate release.
  • A court case can remain active after the person leaves jail.
  • A confidential booking photo is not a public guilt record.
  • An old roster screenshot should never be treated as current custody proof.
  • Do not use public booking information for harassment, stalking, threats or intimidation.

Seattle Jail Roster FAQs

Does Seattle have its own public city jail roster?

No separate Seattle-operated adult jail roster is used for this purpose. The City contracts with King County facilities for incarceration services, so adult custody searches start with the King County Subject Lookup Tool.

Where do I search for someone arrested by Seattle Police?

Use King County Subject Lookup. Search the legal name and verify the current facility, booking number, booking date and arresting agency. A Seattle Police arrest can appear in King County custody even though SPD does not operate the jail.

Can I see Seattle bookings from the last 24 hours?

Yes. King County Subject Lookup has a Subjects Booked in Last 24 Hours option. Use that official filter rather than an unofficial daily-arrest directory.

Can someone arrested in Seattle be housed in Kent?

Yes. King County operates KCCF in Seattle and MRJC in Kent. Use Subject Lookup to confirm the current facility before visiting, mailing facility-specific material or traveling.

Can I search Seattle jail mugshots online?

King County states that jail booking photographs are confidential records and are only releasable to specified recipients or with qualifying authorization or a court order. The official custody lookup should be used instead of a third-party mugshot site.

How do I post bail for someone in Seattle jail?

King County accepts adult bail at KCCF and MRJC between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. daily using cash, cashier’s check or money order. Seattle Municipal Court also has a separate cashier route for qualifying Municipal Court bail/bond matters.

Which court handles a Seattle Police arrest?

The arresting agency alone does not determine the final court. Seattle Municipal Court handles Seattle misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors and qualifying city matters; felony criminal cases generally route to King County Superior Court.

How do Seattle jail visits work?

KCCF currently offers limited in-person visitation with one 1-hour visit period per week, based on housing location. Remote video visits use Securus Video Connect, and adults in custody can receive up to six free video visits per week.

What address should I use for personal mail?

Ordinary personal letters are sent to the Securus Digital Mail Center-King County at P.O. Box 20245, Tampa, FL 33622, using the person’s full booked name and 10-digit booking number. Legal mail and publications for KCCF use the Seattle jail address under separate rules.

Where should I search after someone leaves King County jail?

Continue with the appropriate Seattle or King County court for the criminal case. Use Washington DOC when state correctional custody is likely, WA VINE for supported custody notifications and the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator when federal prison custody is relevant.
