Search Current Custody First—Then Use the Past-Inmate Archive if the Person Has Already Been Released
Sweetwater County publishes one of Wyoming’s more useful county jail rosters. The official Sweetwater County Detention Center system separates Current Inmates from Past Inmates, includes a built-in name search, excludes juvenile inmates, and states that the public list is updated every three hours.
Use the roster to confirm county-jail custody, booking type, booking date, arresting agency, charges, charge status, bond and court. Use the listed court—not the jail roster—for the final criminal case outcome.
Choose the Official System That Matches the Question
A Sweetwater County jail booking, Wyoming state-prison record, ICE detention record and criminal court case are different records. Search the system that owns the information you need.
How to Search the Sweetwater County Jail Roster
The official interface says to use the search tool on the right side of the desktop page or at the bottom on mobile. The roster is sorted by booking date and can be narrowed by name.
Open Current Inmates first
Use Current when you need to know whether a person is presently listed in Sweetwater County Detention Center custody.
Search the person’s legal name
Start with the surname. If necessary, narrow the results with the first or middle name fields available in the live roster. Try reasonable legal-name spelling variations if the first search fails.
Compare more than the name
Review the person’s age, city/state address, booking type, booking date and arresting agency before deciding you have the correct record.
Read every charge row
One booking can contain multiple charges with different statuses, bond numbers, bond types, amounts and courts. Do not make a release decision from only the first line.
Check Past Inmates if Current is empty
The Past Inmates list is sorted by release date and uses the same search approach. It can show booking and release dates plus earlier charge and bond information.
Call before a time-sensitive action
Contact Central Booking at 307-352-4935 when bond, transfer, release or a very recent arrest determines what you need to do next.
What Sweetwater County Booking Fields Mean
The roster contains more operational custody detail than a simple name list. Read each field in context because different lines can belong to different charges or courts.
| Roster field | What it helps confirm | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Booking Type | Why or how the person is being held, with examples including PRE-TRIAL, JAIL SANCTION, ICE HOLD, HOLD FOR OTHER AGENCY or a sentenced status. | The final criminal-case result or who will hold the person after a transfer. |
| Booking Date | When the displayed Sweetwater County booking began. | The exact offense date, hearing date or release date. |
| Arresting Agency | Which agency is associated with the arrest or hold, such as SCSO, RSPD, GRPD, WHP, probation/parole or ICE. | That the same agency operates the jail or controls the court case. |
| Charge Status | The jail-system status displayed with that charge, such as pending, sentenced or bound over. | A final conviction, plea or dismissal. |
| Bond | Displayed bond number, type and amount, such as CASH or CASH OR SURETY, when applicable. | That the amount is still current or that paying it will cause immediate release. |
| Court | Which court the roster associates with that charge, including Sweetwater Circuit Court or District Court. | That the jail page contains the complete court case. |
| Scheduled Release | A scheduled date published for some sentenced inmates. | The actual future release will occur exactly as displayed. |
Sweetwater County Past Inmates: A Useful Release and Booking Archive
The official Past Inmates section is one of this roster’s most useful features. It lists released Sweetwater County Detention Center inmates by release date and can be searched instead of relying on a copied mugshot website or an old social-media screenshot.
Past entries can show:
- name and age;
- listed city/state address;
- booking date;
- release date;
- booking type;
- arresting agency;
- bond company when recorded;
- charge descriptions;
- charge status;
- bond information; and
- the court associated with a charge.
A past-inmate entry documents a county-jail event. It is not a full statewide criminal-history report and does not tell you automatically what later happened in court.
Search Official Past InmatesDoes the Sweetwater County Jail Roster Show Mugshots?
The official roster system includes inmate-image areas on booking entries. The same official system has also displayed a notice during roster data updates saying inmate photos may not display correctly until the update finishes.
That means a missing image is not evidence that the person was not booked, has been released or has no record. Use the name, age, booking date, booking type and arresting agency to verify the entry.
Compare it with the legal name, age and booking details. Similar-looking people or old cached photographs can create false matches.
A booking photograph documents an intake event. Charges can later be amended, dismissed or resolved differently in court.
No Name in Current Inmates? Check These Possibilities
The roster updates every three hours, so an arrest can occur between refreshes. Call Central Booking at 307-352-4935 if the arrest was recent.
Switch to Past Inmates. Sweetwater County provides a separate searchable release archive rather than requiring you to guess from an old current-roster page.
Try the legal surname and other reasonable legal-name variations using the live roster’s name-search fields.
The roster expressly states that juvenile inmates are not included. Do not use adult inmate directories to try to uncover protected juvenile records.
Use the state offender locator only when the person has moved into Wyoming DOC prison or supervision. WDOC says its locator does not contain county-jail inmates.
The county roster can contain ICE HOLD entries. If the person later leaves Sweetwater County custody and immigration detention is involved, use ICE’s Online Detainee Locator.
`HOLD FOR OTHER AGENCY` tells you the county may be physically holding the person for another authority. Call Booking to identify the responsible agency rather than assuming Sweetwater County controls release.
Use the BOP locator only when federal prison custody is actually indicated. A federal charge or agency involvement does not automatically mean the person is already in BOP custody.
Bond and Court: Read Every Charge Before You Pay
Sweetwater County roster entries can publish a bond number, bond type and amount with each charge. One person can have multiple charge lines, so do not assume that one bond amount clears every hold.
Before paying, confirm the current conditions with Central Booking and the court listed in the charge row. A hearing can change bond after the public roster’s last three-hour update.
Sweetwater County Circuit Court — Rock Springs
Wyoming Circuit Courts handle matters including misdemeanor crimes, traffic tickets, protection orders, evictions, small claims and certain civil cases. Sweetwater County’s Rock Springs Circuit Court is located on the same U.S. Highway 191 South governmental campus area as the jail.
50140C US Hwy 191 South, Suite 200
Rock Springs, WY 82901
307-922-5220
Third Judicial District Court — Sweetwater County
Roster entries can also show `DISTRICT COURT`, including charges marked `BOUND OVER` or sentenced matters. The Sweetwater County District Court office is in Green River.
80 West Flaming Gorge Way, Suite 255
Green River, WY 82935
307-872-3820
Use the court file—not the jail charge description—to confirm filed charges, hearings, plea, dismissal, judgment and sentence.
Why Sweetwater County Roster Searches Can Show ICE Holds
Sweetwater County is not only used for ordinary county criminal custody. Official ICE inspection material confirms that Sweetwater County has housed ICE detainees under a federal intergovernmental arrangement, and the live county roster can show `ICE HOLD` as the booking type or ICE as the arresting agency.
The Sweetwater County roster is still useful for confirming that the person is physically listed at the local detention center.
Use the ICE Online Detainee Locator to check whether immigration custody transferred elsewhere. Name searches require an exact first/last-name match and country of birth; A-number searches also require country of birth.
Visitation and Inmate Communication: Verify the Current System Before Paying
The current county Detention Center page could not be reliably retrieved during this research pass, and the official roster does not publish a complete current visitation schedule or communication-provider policy.
Third-party jail pages currently publish provider names and schedules, but those details were not promoted into this article as official facts because jail vendors, fees and visiting hours can change.
Call Central Control at 307-352-4900 or Booking at 307-352-4935. Ask whether visits are onsite, video or remote; how far ahead to schedule; current visiting hours; ID requirements; minor rules; and whether the inmate is eligible for visits.
Ask which phone, video or electronic-message provider is currently authorized. Do not create an account simply because a private jail directory lists a particular vendor.
Professional/legal visits can follow different rules from social visitation, so attorneys and approved professionals should confirm the facility’s current professional-visit process separately.
Mail, Commissary and Inmate Funds
The official public sources successfully retrieved for this refresh did not provide a complete current inmate-mail address, envelope format, photo limits, publication rules, deposit portal or transaction-fee schedule.
A 2025 ICE inspection identified Summit Correctional Services as the facility’s food and commissary provider, but that operational inspection is not a current instruction for families to send money or order packages.
Call the Detention Center and verify the current inmate-mail address, required inmate identifier, return-address rule, photo/publication restrictions and legal-mail procedure.
Ask which online provider, kiosk, money-order or other deposit options are currently authorized, plus current fees and limits. Use only the route the facility confirms.
Sheriff Reports, Booking Records and Court Records
The online inmate roster is a jail record, not the same thing as a Sheriff’s incident report or the court file. Request each record from the office that actually maintains it.
| Record | Best route | Contact |
|---|---|---|
| Current / past jail booking | Sweetwater County inmate roster | Central Booking: 307-352-4935 |
| Sheriff incident / report copy | Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office Records Division | 307-922-5305 |
| Circuit Court case | Sweetwater County Circuit Court | 307-922-5220 |
| District Court case | Third Judicial District Court | 307-872-3820 |
The county-hosted Sheriff’s Report Request Form currently available online lists a $5 non-refundable fee per report copy, submission to the Sheriff’s Office at 50140B Hwy 191 South, Suite 100, and Records contact 307-922-5305. Because the form itself carries an older revision, verify the amount and accepted payment method before sending money.
Traffic crash reports can follow a different state records process; do not assume the Sheriff’s ordinary report form covers every record type.
Sweetwater County Jail vs. Wyoming DOC vs. Federal Custody
Use the Sweetwater911 roster for people currently or previously booked in the county facility near Rock Springs.
Use WDOC for a person currently in Wyoming state prison or on probation/parole. WDOC explicitly says its offender locator does not provide county-jail information.
Use BOP after federal prison custody is established. County custody, ICE custody and BOP custody are separate systems.
The WDOC locator can be searched with a WDOC inmate number or at least the first two letters of the offender’s last name. Additional fields include first name, age and gender.

Use Booking and Mugshot Information Responsibly
An arrest is not a conviction. A booking charge is not necessarily the final filed charge, a displayed bond can change, a warrant-related booking does not explain the eventual case outcome, and a scheduled release date is not a guarantee of actual release.
Return to the official roster before making a time-sensitive decision. Do not use booking records, photographs, addresses or court information to harass, threaten, stalk, shame or impersonate another person.
Sweetwater County Jail Roster FAQs
What is the official Sweetwater County jail roster?
The official roster is hosted through Sweetwater911 for the Sweetwater County Detention Center. It has separate Current Inmates and Past Inmates sections and is linked by the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office.
How often is the Sweetwater County inmate roster updated?
The official roster states that both the current and past inmate lists are updated every three hours. That does not make the roster a second-by-second custody feed, so call Booking for urgent verification.
Does the Sweetwater County roster include juvenile inmates?
No. The official roster expressly states that juvenile inmates are not included. Use appropriate juvenile-court or guardian/legal channels when a legitimate matter involves a minor.
How can I find someone who was already released?
Switch to the official Past Inmates section. It is sorted by release date and can contain earlier booking, release, arresting-agency, charge, bond and court information.
What information does a current inmate entry show?
Depending on the booking, entries can show name, age, city/state address, booking type, booking date, scheduled release, arresting agency, charges, charge status, bond information and the associated court.
Does the Sweetwater County roster show mugshots?
The roster system includes inmate-image areas on entries, although photographs may not always display. The official system has warned during data updates that inmate photos may temporarily display incorrectly. A missing photo does not mean there is no booking.
What does ICE HOLD mean on the Sweetwater County roster?
It indicates an immigration-related custody hold or booking context rather than an ordinary county sentence. Sweetwater County has housed ICE detainees. If the person later leaves the county roster, check ICE’s Online Detainee Locator.
How do I know which Sweetwater County court has the case?
Read the court field attached to each charge. Many misdemeanor and traffic matters route through Sweetwater Circuit Court in Rock Springs, while roster records can also show District Court, including cases that have been bound over.
Can I pay bond based only on the amount shown in the roster?
Do not pay without verifying it. A person may have multiple charges or holds, and court action can change bond between roster updates. Call Central Booking and the listed court. Wyoming courts also warn that they do not contact people asking for bond money through payment apps.
Does Wyoming DOC offender search include Sweetwater County Jail inmates?
No. Wyoming DOC specifically states that its offender locator does not provide county-jail inmate information. Use the Sweetwater County roster for county custody and WDOC only for state prison or community supervision.
