Find the Bonneville County Jail Roster—Then Use the Right Record for What Comes Next
For current local jail custody in Bonneville County, start with the official Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office inmate list. The public list is intentionally limited: it shows an image field, inmate ID, name and location, while the Sheriff says exact charges and bond amounts are not published there.
Which Official Source Answers Your Question?
Bonneville County custody, court, warrant and records information lives in different systems. Do not expect one roster page to answer every question.
Bonneville County inmate list
Use the Sheriff’s list to see people currently carried on the county jail roster and the roster’s current update timestamp.
Idaho iCourt
Use court records for the case, hearing history, filed charges, dispositions and other court-controlled information.
Idaho DOC search
Use IDOC when the person may have transferred from county jail to Idaho state correctional custody or supervision.
Federal BOP locator
Use this only when federal Bureau of Prisons custody is plausible. A federal warrant or hold does not by itself prove BOP placement.
| Question | Best first source | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Is the person on the local jail roster now? | BCSO inmate list | It is the operator’s current public custody list. |
| What are the exact charges or bond details? | Jail deputy + Idaho iCourt | BCSO says exact charges and bond amounts are not published on its inmate-list page. |
| Did the person leave county jail? | BCSO / VINE / receiving system | A missing roster entry can reflect release, transfer or another status change; verify rather than assume. |
| Is there a Bonneville County court case? | Idaho iCourt | Court records, not the jail roster, control the legal case history. |
| I need a police or sheriff report. | BCSO Records / county public-record portal | The jail roster is not a police-report repository. |
| I need victim custody notifications. | Idaho VINE | VINE provides custody-status notification services. |
How to Search the Bonneville County Jail Roster
The official inmate-list page is simpler than many third-party directories suggest. During this review, the live public table used an image column, inmate ID, last name, first name and location. It did not publish date of birth, exact charges, case number, bond amount or release date as standard roster columns.
Open the Sheriff’s inmate list
Use the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office page rather than a copied jail-directory roster.
Search the name carefully
Start with the legal last name. If needed, try the full first name, alternate spelling, hyphenated name or a prior surname. Do not assume a no-result screen proves release.
Match more than the name
Use the inmate ID, displayed image and listed location when available. Similar names can belong to different people.
Use the inmate ID for jail tasks
The Sheriff’s mail guidance says the inmate ID is assigned at booking and can be found on the inmate list. It is required for personal mail and useful when calling the jail.
Move the legal question to the court system
If you need filed charges, a court date, case history or legal disposition, open Idaho iCourt or contact the appropriate court instead of treating the jail list as a complete criminal-case record.
What a Bonneville Roster Result Means—and What It Does Not
Inmate ID
This is the jail identifier assigned at booking. BCSO specifically uses it for inmate mail, and it helps distinguish people with similar names.
Location
The roster includes a location field. Treat it as a custody or housing clue, not as a court status or sentence result.
Image
The public list includes an image field for identification. A booking image documents a custody event; it is not evidence of guilt or a final case outcome.
What is missing
BCSO says its records system does not allow exact charges or bond amounts to be published on the inmate-list page. Use the jail and court sources for those questions.
A local detail many directory pages miss
The Sheriff’s FAQ says the inmate list can include people on temporary release status, work release, house arrest or ankle monitoring, even when they are not physically inside the jail building at that moment. That means “listed” and “physically in a cell at 900 Environmental Way” are not always identical facts.
- An arrest is not a conviction.
- A booking allegation is not the same as the charge ultimately filed or resolved in court.
- A warrant does not prove the person is currently incarcerated.
- A roster location does not replace confirmation from the jail when physical presence matters.
- A screenshot can become stale quickly; reopen the live official source before acting.

| Problem | Possible explanation | Next action | Official route |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arrest was very recent | Booking or roster publication may still be processing, and BCSO acknowledges occasional roster-update issues. | Recheck the live list, then call the jail if timing matters. | BCSO inmate list / 208-529-1315 |
| Name does not appear | Spelling, prior surname, hyphenation or an identity mismatch may be involved. | Try verified name variants; avoid guessing by photo alone. | BCSO inmate list |
| Person appeared earlier but is gone | Release, transfer, court-ordered status change or another custody move may have occurred. | Verify with the jail and VINE; check IDOC if state transfer is plausible. | BCSO / Idaho VINE / IDOC |
| Court case exists but no jail listing | A court case or warrant can exist without current Bonneville County Jail custody. | Use iCourt for the case; contact the responsible agency for custody confirmation. | Idaho iCourt |
| Person may be in state prison | Sentencing or transfer may have moved the person into Idaho DOC jurisdiction. | Search IDOC by last name or IDOC number. | IDOC Resident/Client Search |
| Person is a juvenile | The adult jail roster is not the correct record path. | Use the juvenile facility/court route rather than forcing an adult-roster search. | 3B Detention Center / juvenile court resources |
Bond and Release: Verify the Bond Type Before Paying
The Sheriff’s bonding guidance distinguishes a surety bond from a cash bond. A surety bond can involve a bail bondsman; a cash bond requires the full amount. The Sheriff’s page also states that cashier’s checks and money orders are accepted for a cash bond and lists a separate $10 Sheriff’s bond fee that must be paid with exact change.
Confirm the actual bond
Because the public inmate list does not publish exact bond amounts, confirm the current bond with the jail and, when needed, the court record. Do not use a third-party directory’s amount as the final authority.
Do not promise a release time
Payment does not guarantee immediate release. Court orders, holds, detainers, paperwork and jail processing can affect when a person actually leaves custody.
Read the Sheriff’s current bonding information and the 2026 inmate-bonding scam warning.
Court Records, Hearings and Warrants Are Separate From the Jail Roster
Bonneville County’s court hub links to the 7th Judicial District Court and Idaho iCourt. The county courthouse is at 605 N. Capital Ave., Idaho Falls, ID 83402. The county lists its main court contact as 208-529-1350; the Idaho Supreme Court courthouse directory lists 208-529-1350 ext. 1379 as the Bonneville County main court phone.
Use iCourt for
- case records
- court dates and docket history when available
- filed charges and case status
- court-controlled outcomes
Use the jail for
- current local custody
- jail status questions
- bond-process questions handled by detention staff
- visit, mail and property procedures
Use records staff for
- BCSO case reports
- crash reports
- law-enforcement public records
- records-request tracking
What about warrants?
The Sheriff’s Office says its Warrants Office processes and tracks warrants issued by Bonneville County courts. During this source review, no separate official public “active warrants” search page was verified, so this guide does not invent one. A warrant question should be verified through the court/BCSO route, and a warrant should never be treated as proof of current jail custody.
Visitation and Electronic Communication
Bonneville County Jail currently advertises onsite and remote video visitation. The Sheriff’s page directs visitors to create a Telmate/GettingOut account, become verified and schedule visits in advance through the lobby kiosk or online. The page asks users to try to schedule at least 24 hours ahead so the resident has time to accept the visit.
Onsite video visitation
Onsite visits use stations in the jail lobby. The Sheriff’s page states that the one free 30-minute local visit must be accepted by the resident and limits the booth to two people. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Remote video visitation
Remote visits are handled through the same Telmate/GettingOut ecosystem. Conduct rules apply, and late arrival can reduce the usable visit time. Current platform support should be checked directly with GettingOut.
The Sheriff’s page also says special visits may be considered for people traveling more than 60 miles or in other extenuating circumstances, subject to approval by the Shift Supervisor or Classification Officer.
Mail Rules Changed: Personal Letters Do Not Go to the Jail Street Address
Bonneville County uses a scanned-mail system for ordinary personal correspondence. The Sheriff says personal mail is processed by Earth Class and delivered digitally to the inmate’s ViaPath tablet account. Sending ordinary correspondence to 605 N. Capital or 900 Environmental Way can cause it to be rejected and returned.
| Mail type | Current address / route | Important rule |
|---|---|---|
| Personal correspondence | Bonneville County Jail (Full Inmate Name and Inmate ID #) P.O. Box 247 Phoenix, MD 21131 |
Must include the inmate ID and sender’s full return name/address. Mail is scanned for digital delivery. |
| Books / magazines | (Full Inmate Name and Inmate ID #) Bonneville County Jail 605 N. Capital Idaho Falls, ID 83402 |
Must come directly from a publisher or Sheriff-approved distributor. |
| Legal / special business documents | Follow the Sheriff’s legal-mail and case-by-case document guidance | Do not assume the personal-mail scanning address is correct for legal material. |
Other mail restrictions worth checking before you send
The Sheriff’s published rules prohibit or restrict items such as blank stationery, stamps, glitter, stickers, tape or glue, metal bindings, food or drink, Polaroid-style photos, certain altered paper items and newspapers or clippings. Because Earth Class scans personal mail, some physical characteristics may be handled differently if the image can be safely scanned; the jail retains final content and security review.
The Sheriff also warns against mailing sentimental or monetary-value items. Earth Class retains received mail items for 90 days and then destroys them; return requests must be made through ViaPath within that period.
Money, Commissary, Medical Charges and Property Pickup
Depositing money
The Sheriff directs friends and family to Access Corrections for inmate-account deposits and also lists 866-345-1884 as a deposit-by-phone route. The jail does not publish every transaction fee on its own page, so review the provider’s current fee before confirming payment.
Commissary and care
BCSO says account funds can be used for commissary items such as hygiene products and snacks. Its current “Gifts to Inmates” page also says medical or dental visits cost the inmate $10, while indigent inmates are not denied medical or dental services.
Property release
An inmate must complete a property-release form before property can be released. The property goes only to the person named on that form, and deputies check identification before release.
Medication and glasses
The property page says inmates cannot generally receive property while incarcerated, but the jail will accept current medications or prescription glasses. Call the jail before arriving so staff can explain the current handoff procedure.

Sheriff Records, Court Records and Booking Photos
Use the agency that owns the record. The Sheriff’s Records Team handles BCSO case and crash reports, while court records belong in the court/iCourt route. Bonneville County changed its law-enforcement public-record process in September 2025 to an online submission platform; the older downloadable Sheriff records form is no longer the current request method.
BCSO reports
Submit a current law-enforcement public-record request through the county/BCSO online route. Records questions can be directed to 208-529-1350 option 5.
Court records
Use Idaho iCourt for public case information. The county also provides a separate court-public-record request process for records that require a formal request.
Booking images
The live inmate list includes an image field. If you need a record that is not published there, use BCSO’s current records process and describe the record precisely; disclosure can depend on Idaho public-record law and applicable exemptions.
Idaho’s public-record framework generally presumes public records are open unless a statute provides an exemption. That does not mean every jail, investigative or personal record must be released without redaction. Ask for the specific existing record rather than asking the agency to create a new report or explanation.
PREA and In-Custody Safety Concerns
The Bonneville County Jail publishes a PREA notice and says allegations of sexual abuse or harassment are investigated or referred to an agency with authority to investigate. For a custody-safety concern, use the jail’s current PREA page rather than a third-party jail directory.
The official page lists jail administration at 208-529-1315 ext. 5303 as one reporting route. For an immediate emergency outside the jail, use 911; for a concern involving someone already in custody, contact the jail directly so staff can route it appropriately.
When the Bonneville County Roster Is the Wrong Search
Do not search random Idaho county rosters after one no-result screen. First identify the likely custody system from the arresting agency, court, transfer information or sentence status.
IDOC Resident/Client Search
IDOC says its database covers people under department jurisdiction, including incarceration, probation and parole, and can be searched by last name or IDOC number. IDOC updates the database daily but warns that changes can occur faster than the public record updates.
BOP Inmate Locator
The federal locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to the present. A “released” or “not in BOP custody” result does not rule out another local, state or federal justice-system status.
3B Detention Center
3B is a separate juvenile detention facility serving Bonneville, Bingham and Butte Counties. Its detention facility is at 950 Environmental Way, Idaho Falls, ID 83401.

Bonneville County Jail Roster FAQs
Where is the official Bonneville County Jail roster?
The official public inmate list is on the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office website. Use that list for current local custody rather than a copied third-party roster.
What information does the Bonneville County inmate list show?
The current public table includes an image field, inmate ID, last name, first name and location. BCSO says exact charges and bond amounts are not published on the inmate-list page.
How often is the Bonneville County roster updated?
The Sheriff says the list is updated periodically throughout the day and is intended to refresh regularly, but update problems can occur. For a time-sensitive answer, call Jail Operations at 208-529-1315.
Does appearing on the roster always mean the person is physically inside the jail?
No. The Sheriff’s FAQ says the list can include people on temporary release, work release, house arrest or ankle monitoring. Verify physical presence with the jail when it matters.
Why can’t I see the exact charge or bond amount on the roster?
BCSO says its records system does not allow exact charges or bond amounts to be published on the public inmate-list page. Contact the jail and use Idaho iCourt for the related legal record.
How do I post bond for someone in Bonneville County Jail?
First confirm whether the bond is surety or cash and verify the current amount. The Sheriff’s published guidance describes cash, cashier’s check and money-order options for cash bonds and a separate $10 Sheriff’s bond fee. Confirm current instructions directly before paying.
How do I schedule a visit?
BCSO offers onsite and remote video visitation through the Telmate/GettingOut system. Visitors need an account and verification, and the Sheriff asks users to try to schedule at least 24 hours ahead.
What address should I use for personal inmate mail?
Use: Bonneville County Jail, the inmate’s full name and inmate ID, P.O. Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131. Ordinary personal mail sent to the Idaho Falls jail or courthouse addresses may be returned.
Can I send books from Amazon?
The Sheriff’s current guidelines state that, as of July 1, 2026, books and publications are not accepted from Amazon or Amazon sellers. Use a currently approved publisher or distributor.
What should I do if the person is not on the Bonneville roster?
Check the spelling and the live update, then call the jail if the arrest was recent. If a transfer or sentence is plausible, use Idaho DOC; use 3B for juvenile detention and the BOP locator only for federal Bureau of Prisons custody.
Use Jail Information Responsibly
A booking, jail listing, arrest allegation or booking image does not establish guilt. The court record controls legal outcomes, and public custody data can change after a release, transfer, court order or records update.
Do not use jail information to harass, threaten, stalk, shame or pressure a person or their family. Reopen the live official source before making a payment, traveling to the jail, sending mail, arranging a visit or sharing a claim about someone’s current status.
