Two Counties, One Jail — Start With the Correct Burley Roster
“Burley Jail” searches point to the Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center, a shared Cassia–Minidoka facility located in Burley. Cassia County hosts the public jail roster and recent-bookings pages.
This guide shows how to identify the correct booking, avoid the $0-bond trap, verify court and other-agency holds, and use the current visitation, mail, commissary and records routes.
Where Should a Burley Inmate Search Start?
Start with Cassia County’s official Jail Roster. If the arrest is recent, check the separate Recent Bookings page. When current custody affects bond, court, medication, visitation or pickup, call Mini-Cassia at 208-878-1000.
Is the Person in Jail Now?
Use the official Jail Roster first and search the legal name or booking number.
Was the Arrest Recent?
Check Recent Bookings for booking date/time, displayed charges, bond entries and booking photographs when available.
Need Bond or Court?
Read every charge row, then verify the case in Idaho iCourt. A $0 bond entry is not self-explanatory.
Need to Mail or Visit?
Use the current county-linked mail procedure and live InmateSales scheduler rather than a third-party jail directory.
Why the Search Says Cassia County Instead of “Burley Jail”
The physical jail is in Burley, but its official name is the Mini-Cassia Criminal Justice Center. Cassia and Minidoka counties participate in the joint justice system, while Cassia County publishes the main public inmate-search tools.
You are on the correct page. A search result labeled “Cassia County Jail Roster” can still be the correct Burley inmate-search source.
The Jail Can House People for More Than Cassia County
Current Mini-Cassia joint-committee reports show the facility houses multiple custody categories, including Cassia County, Minidoka County, Idaho Department of Correction and federal detainees.
Physical housing does not always equal release authority. Another county, IDOC or federal agency can still control what happens after the local case is resolved.

Which Official Source Controls Your Question?
Choose the task below. Do not enter a real inmate name, date of birth, case number or other identifying information into this helper.

Privacy-safe workflow: type names, DOBs and case identifiers only after you reach the official county, court or state system.
How to Search the Burley Jail Roster
Open Cassia County’s Official Jail Roster
This is the public roster used for Mini-Cassia searches.
Search by Name or Booking Number
The current roster search box expressly accepts either a name or booking number.
Start Broad When You Only Know the Name
Try the legal surname first. Then test the full first name, middle name, former surname, maiden name, hyphenated spelling or suffix when appropriate.
Open Recent Bookings for a New Arrest
The recent-bookings tool can provide more context about newly processed custody events.
Read Every Charge and Bond Row
One $0 bond row can be misleading. Check all counts before deciding whether bond exists.
Call Before a Time-Sensitive Action
Call 208-878-1000 when current custody determines whether you should post bond, drive to Burley, send medication, visit or arrange release transportation.
How Current Is the Cassia County Jail Roster?
Cassia County publishes slightly different update wording across its official jail pages.
Who Has Been Booked Page
This county page says its database is updated every 24 hours and warns that recent inmate-status changes may not yet be reflected.
Current Mini-Cassia Page
The facility page says the database is updated frequently, but still warns that recent changes may not appear online.
The common rule is more important than the wording difference: Cassia County says inmate status can only be confirmed in person or by phone. Do not describe the roster as live or guaranteed real-time.
Call Instead of Refreshing When
- Bond needs to be posted now.
- A court appearance is imminent.
- A family member is driving a long distance.
- Medication or an urgent health issue is involved.
- A victim-safety decision depends on custody.
- You are arranging release transportation.
Jail Roster vs Recent Bookings
| Official tool | Best use | Main caution |
|---|---|---|
| Jail Roster | Searching the Mini-Cassia inmate list by name or booking number. | Online status can lag behind a release, booking or transfer. |
| Recent Bookings | Checking recent booking date/time, age, sex, displayed charges, bond and photo links. | A booking entry does not prove the person remains in custody now. |
What Mini-Cassia Recent Booking Fields Mean
| Displayed field | What it helps with | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Booking Photo | Visual identity comparison. | Guilt, conviction or present custody. |
| Name | Locating the intended entry. | Identity when names are similar. |
| Age / Sex | Distinguishing similar names. | Complete DOB or every identity detail. |
| Booked Date / Time | Shows when jail booking was recorded. | Exact arrest time. |
| Charge | Shows the allegation or hold displayed by the jail. | The final prosecutor filing or conviction. |
| Bond | Shows the bond value attached to the displayed charge row. | That payment of that row will cause release. |
Booking information is an operational jail record. Use the court file for the legal case and later outcome.
What Do Codes Like 2M, 4C, ID, ICE or OTHER Mean?
Recent Bookings can show short labels between the charge wording and bond amount.
Cassia County’s public roster pages do not provide a complete current glossary explaining every short code displayed there.
Do not invent a meaning. A short jail-system code should not automatically be interpreted as an offense grade, court level or release status unless the county or court confirms it.
Better Questions to Ask
- Which agency owns this hold?
- Which court case does this charge belong to?
- Is the person being held for Cassia or another jurisdiction?
- Does this entry affect release?
Does the Burley Jail Roster Show Mugshots?
The official Recent Bookings page includes “View larger photo” links for many displayed booking entries.
Use a Mugshot Only to Help Confirm Identity
Compare the photograph with the legal name, age, booking date and other booking details. Do not rely on the photograph alone.
A booking photograph is not proof of guilt. A charge may later be amended, dismissed or otherwise resolved in court.
The Public Jail Database Does Not Include Juvenile Offenders
Cassia County expressly states that its public booking database does not include juvenile offenders.
A missing juvenile record is therefore expected. Do not use adult jail-search sites or social-media posts to try to uncover protected juvenile information.
When a legitimate family or legal need involves a minor, use the appropriate juvenile court, legal guardian or attorney route rather than the adult roster.
What to Do When Someone Is Not Listed
- Search the legal surname by itself.
- Try maiden, former and hyphenated names.
- Use the booking number when known.
- Open Recent Bookings after a recent arrest.
- Remember that juveniles are excluded.
- Consider that the person may already have been released.
- Consider Minidoka, IDOC, federal or another-agency custody.
- Search Idaho iCourt when you know a court case exists.
- Call 208-878-1000 when present custody is urgent.
Case ≠ custody. A defendant can have an active Idaho criminal case without being physically incarcerated at Mini-Cassia.
Why a $0 Bond Does Not Automatically Mean Free Release
Cassia County’s Public Defender provides unusually useful official guidance about the $0.0 entries that appear in the jail system.
Possibility 1: No-Bond Probation Hold
A probation violation can result in a hold with no ordinary option to bond out.
Possibility 2: The Person Is Serving a Sentence
When the person is already serving a sentence, a conventional bail payment may not apply.
Possibility 3: Another Count Contains the Real Bond
One charge can show $0 while another count connected with the same case contains the actual bond amount.
Never read only one line. Review every charge and case, then confirm the current court filing and jail status.
Bond Call Script
“I am checking the current bond on this booking. Is any charge a no-bond hold, is the person serving a sentence, does another count contain the controlling bond, and is another agency preventing release?”
What Does OR Release Mean?
The Cassia County Public Defender explains that OR means release on the person’s own recognizance.
Instead of posting a bond, the person agrees to return to court and comply with conditions ordered by the judge.
OR does not mean condition-free. Court conditions can include requirements such as future appearances or testing. Check the actual court order.
Read the official Cassia County Public Defender explanation.
How to Check a Cassia County Criminal Case
The jail roster is the starting point for custody. The court record is the better source for charges, hearings, filings, bond orders and later case outcomes.

Use Idaho iCourt For
- Case-number searching
- Supported public case information
- Hearing information
- Current court filings when available
- Supported online judicial services
Do not rely on a jail record for a legal deadline. Confirm hearings, warrants, bond conditions and required appearances through the court.
Outstanding Warrants Are Not the Same as Current Jail Custody
Cassia County maintains a separate outstanding-warrants database.
The Sheriff states that the warrant database is updated every 24 hours and that changes may not immediately be reflected.
A Warrant Listing Means
The Sheriff’s public system lists a valid Cassia County arrest warrant for the person at the time the database was updated.
It Does Not Mean
That the person is currently incarcerated at Mini-Cassia.
Only peace officers can make an arrest on a warrant. Do not confront, follow or attempt to detain a wanted person.
To report a wanted person’s location, Cassia County lists Dispatch at 208-878-2251. For anonymous Crime Stoppers information, the county lists 208-878-2900.
Another Agency Hold Can Prevent Release
Mini-Cassia joint-committee reports and current booking data demonstrate that people can be housed for several jurisdictions or agencies.
| Possible authority | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Cassia County | Local Cassia court or warrant may control custody. |
| Minidoka County | The joint facility can house a person for Minidoka matters. |
| Idaho DOC | State correctional authority can affect transfer or release. |
| Federal / U.S. Marshal | Federal custody can continue after a local matter changes. |
| Immigration-related hold | Current booking data can display immigration or Border Patrol-related holds. |
Posting the local bond may not result in release. Ask whether another agency still has authority over the person.
How to Confirm Physical Release
A court decision, OR order or paid bond is not the same thing as the person physically leaving Mini-Cassia.
Release Can Still Wait on
- Arrival of the court order
- Bond processing
- Other agency holds
- Sentence calculations
- Transfer arrangements
- Property processing
- Final jail paperwork
Release Verification Script
“Has the person actually been cleared for physical release, is another agency or warrant holding them, and should anyone travel to Burley for pickup yet?”
Call Mini-Cassia at 208-878-1000.
How to Schedule a Mini-Cassia Visit
Cassia County directs visitors to InmateSales and requires an account for scheduling.
No complete fixed timetable is published on the current county Friends & Family page. Use the live scheduler instead of copying visit hours from a commercial jail directory.
Current County Restrictions
- No cell phones in the lobby.
- No cameras.
- No food or drink.
- No electronic toys, games or music devices.
- No more than two adults may visit one inmate at the same time.
- Unapproved or unauthorized visitors are denied.
- Children must remain supervised.
- Visitors must behave in a quiet and orderly manner.
Probationers and Parolees
They must have written authorization from their supervising probation or parole authority.
No-Contact Orders
A visitor cannot be a party listed on a CPOR involving the inmate they intend to visit.
Being able to create an online account does not guarantee visit approval. Facility restrictions and authorization still apply.
Open InmateSales after confirming the person remains in custody.
Current Friends-and-Family Mail Goes to Kentucky
The current mail procedure linked directly from Cassia County’s live Friends & Family page states that, starting October 21, 2024, mail must use the new addresses shown in that procedure and mail sent to other addresses will be rejected.
Standard Friends & Family Mail
[Inmate Name – Inmate ID]Mini-Cassia County Jail ID
P.O. Box 76550
Highland Heights, KY 41076
Do not use the old Securus Lebanon, Missouri address from the previous version of this guide. Cassia County’s currently linked mail procedure now publishes the Highland Heights, Kentucky route.
Why This Replaces Older County PDFs
Cassia County still has older mail documents online, including a 2022 Securus change notice and another document that describes sending correspondence directly to 1415 Albion Avenue.
However, the live Friends & Family page now links users to the newer procedure that begins with the October 21, 2024 effective-date notice. That is the user-facing instruction followed here.
Before mailing something valuable: reopen the live county Friends & Family page or call 208-878-1000 in case the processing address changes again.
What Can Be Sent in Standard Mini-Cassia Mail?
The current county-linked procedure says incoming mail must include the inmate name and inmate ID and a return address.
Size and Scanner Requirements
Mail must be no larger than 8½ × 11 inches, no thicker than light card stock and capable of going through a sheet-fed scanner.
Photographs
Photographs are the only enclosures permitted under the current standard-mail procedure. It allows up to 10 photographs per package, printed on photo paper.
Examples of Prohibited Mail
- Stamps
- Blank envelopes
- Stationery
- Cash, checks or other forms of currency in correspondence
- Threats or criminal-activity details
- Escape or contraband plans
- Gang or code insignia
- Obscene language or drawings
- Address labels or stickers
- Homemade or musical cards
- Non-white envelopes or paper
- Paintings or tracing paper
- Coloring-book pages
- Colored ink, marker, crayon or glitter drawings
- Raised decorations
- Paint, white-out, glue or other liquid products
Internet Printouts
The current procedure says Internet printouts, colored pages and provocative material are not permitted.
Important: the procedure warns that mail not meeting the guidelines may be destroyed rather than returned.
Open the live Friends & Family page and use its current “Sending Mail to Inmates” link before posting mail.
Legal Mail and Publisher Publications Go Directly to the Jail
The current county-linked mail procedure provides a separate direct-facility address for legal mail and publications from a publisher.
Inmate Name – [Inmate ID]Mini-Cassia County Jail ID
1415 Albion Avenue
Burley, ID 83318
Publications
Use this direct route only for publications meeting the jail’s publisher rules. Confirm the current seller, binding, content and quantity requirements before ordering an expensive item.
Money Orders Need Extra Care
The current procedure flags legal mail, publications or money orders that are not sent to 1415 Albion Avenue as return-to-sender items.
For money, JailATM is the clearer county-published deposit route. Call Mini-Cassia before mailing a money order so you confirm the current payable-name and ID requirements.
How to Put Money on a Mini-Cassia Commissary Account
The live Cassia County Friends & Family page directs users to JailATM for commissary deposits.
Before Depositing
- Refresh the official jail roster.
- Confirm the legal name.
- Confirm the inmate identifier required by the provider.
- Select the correct Mini-Cassia facility.
- Review transaction fees.
- Save the confirmation number.
Open JailATM only after verifying the inmate.
Do not put cash or checks inside ordinary personal mail. The current mail procedure prohibits cash, checks and other currency in correspondence.
How to Verify Mini-Cassia Inmate Phone Services
The current public county Friends & Family page clearly names InmateSales for visitation and JailATM for commissary, but it does not provide a complete current inmate-phone provider/rate guide.
Do not assume the visitation company is automatically the phone company. Do not send money to a phone provider merely because a commercial jail website lists it.
Ask Mini-Cassia
- Which provider currently handles outgoing inmate calls?
- Is a prepaid account needed?
- Are voicemail or electronic messages available?
- What rate is currently displayed?
- How does an inmate add an approved telephone number?
- How are privileged attorney calls handled?
Call 208-878-1000 before funding an inmate-call account that is not linked by the county.
Mini-Cassia Public Defender Information
The current Cassia County page describes the Mini-Cassia Public Defender Office as a state-run office serving Cassia and Minidoka Counties through court-appointed representation.

A Jail Record Is a Starting Point, Not a Verdict
- Do not treat a booking as proof of guilt.
- Do not treat a mugshot as a conviction.
- Do not assume a $0 bond means immediate release.
- Do not assume OR release has no conditions.
- Do not confuse an outstanding warrant with current incarceration.
- Do not assume Mini-Cassia controls every outside-agency hold.
- Do not assume a current court case requires present jail custody.
- Do not use the adult roster to investigate juvenile offenders.
- Do not harass, threaten, stalk or shame someone because of a booking record.
- Use Idaho court records for legal outcomes.
