Search the Lubbock County Jail Roster, Then Verify the Booking and Court Record
The official Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office Active Jail Search is the first place to check whether someone is currently held at the Lubbock County Detention Center. Search by name, booking number or Sheriff’s Office (SO) number, then use the correct court, bond, visitation, records or Texas custody source for the next task.
Quick Answer: Use the Lubbock County Sheriff Active Jail Search
The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office says its active jail roster can be searched by name, booking number or Sheriff’s Office number. The Sheriff also offers a Jail Search function in its mobile app and says the app version updates every half hour.
The Lubbock County Detention Center is at 3502 N. Holly Avenue, Lubbock, TX 79403. This is the physical detention facility. Do not confuse it with the Sheriff’s downtown law-enforcement offices or with the separate Florida address used to scan ordinary inmate mail.
Official Lubbock Source Router
Active Jail Search
Use first to locate a person by name, booking number or SO number.
Lubbock County Clerk
The County Clerk’s Criminal Division handles misdemeanor criminal records and provides public court-record search access.
Lubbock County District Clerk
The District Clerk is custodian of civil and criminal pleadings and records for the district courts it serves.
Lubbock Municipal Court
Use when the citation or warrant belongs to the City of Lubbock Municipal Court rather than a county criminal court.
TDCJ Offender Search
Use after transfer into Texas Department of Criminal Justice custody or supervision.
BOP Inmate Locator
Use for established Federal Bureau of Prisons custody rather than a county jail booking.
How to Search the Lubbock County Jail Roster
- Start on the Sheriff’s Active Jail Search page. Avoid sponsored people-search forms or mugshot repost sites when your real question is current custody.
- Use the strongest identifier you have. Search an SO number or booking number when available; otherwise start with the legal name.
- Control name variations. Try a middle name, middle initial, former surname, hyphenated surname or corrected spelling when the first search does not find the person.
- Open the correct record and save the identifiers. Keep the booking number and SO number with your notes so you do not confuse people with similar names.
- Review charge and bond rows separately. One person can have more than one charge, warrant or hold, and one bond does not necessarily resolve every custody reason.
- Use the court for legal status. Once a cause/case number appears, move to the correct clerk or court system for hearings, filings and disposition.
- Verify before paying or traveling. Refresh the live roster and contact the detention center when bond, release, medication, visitation or pickup depends on same-day accuracy.
How to Read Lubbock Booking Information
| Record item | Useful for | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| SO number | Matching the Sheriff’s inmate identity and using jail services such as mail or account lookup. | It is the same as the booking number or court case number. |
| Booking number | Identifying a specific custody event. | It identifies every prior or future booking for the same person. |
| Charge / hold | Understanding the allegation, warrant or custody basis recorded at that stage. | It is a conviction or final filed charge. |
| Bond | Seeing the release amount or condition after it is set. | Paying one bond clears every hold or guarantees immediate release. |
| Arresting agency / court clue | Routing an arrest report or criminal case to the right office. | The arresting agency, jail and court are the same organization. |
Keep the record types separate: the Sheriff roster explains custody; the County Clerk or District Clerk explains the filed court case; TDCJ explains state corrections; BOP explains federal prison custody.
Lubbock Mugshots: Taken at Booking Does Not Mean Every Photo Is Guaranteed Online
The Sheriff’s Detention Division says booking staff handle fingerprints, mugshots, criminal-history checks and arrest paperwork during processing. However, the current Active Jail Search instructions do not promise that every inmate search result will always include a publicly downloadable booking photo.
If a photo appears in the official live record, use it only as an identity clue. If you need a separate booking image or intake record for a legitimate records purpose, use the Sheriff’s open-records process and identify the person, booking number, date range and requested record as precisely as possible.
If the Person Is Not Listed
| Problem | Possible explanation | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Arrest happened very recently | Transport, identity verification, medical screening or booking may still be underway. | Recheck the active roster and call 806-775-7009 when immediate confirmation matters. |
| Name does not match | Middle name, former surname, suffix or spelling may differ. | Try controlled name variations or use the booking/SO number if available. |
| Court case exists but roster is blank | A criminal case or warrant can exist without current jail custody. | Use County Clerk, District Clerk or Lubbock Municipal Court records according to the case. |
| Previously listed, now missing | Release, bond, transfer or another custody change may have occurred. | Verify with the detention center and use Texas IVSS-Counties/VINE notification resources where appropriate. |
| Sentenced to state custody | The person may now be under TDCJ rather than Lubbock County. | Search TDCJ IVSS. |
| Federal case or sentence | Federal custody uses separate agencies and systems. | Check the responsible federal court/agency and BOP locator for established BOP custody. |
Initial Appearance, Bond and Release in Lubbock County
The Sheriff’s FAQ says inmates can typically bond out after they have seen a magistrate. Initial Appearance is conducted at least twice a day and sometimes more often; the Sheriff’s live-stream page says hearings can occur up to three times a day as needed.
Once bond is set, the Sheriff says the bond setting is updated on the online jail roster. A person can post the full bond at the Lubbock County Detention Center bond window or use a local surety company, which can charge a percentage and impose its own requirements.
- Refresh the inmate record.
- Confirm every charge and hold.
- Confirm that magistrate review has occurred.
- Confirm the current amount and acceptable bond type.
The Sheriff provides a livestream link from the Active Jail Search page when hearings are conducted. The Sheriff states the stream is not archived and recording the hearing is prohibited.
Which Lubbock Court Record Should You Check?
The jail roster is not the court docket. Lubbock County uses different clerks for different criminal case levels, while City of Lubbock Class C matters can belong to Municipal Court.
Lubbock County Clerk — Criminal

The District Clerk’s current page identifies six Lubbock judicial district courts and states that it is custodian of pleadings and papers for civil and criminal causes in the district courts it serves. The County Clerk provides a separate search for civil, criminal and probate court records and lists a dedicated Criminal Division line.
Lubbock County Jail Visitation: Smart Communications + 24-Hour Scheduling
Current Sheriff instructions list visitation from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with the final visit beginning no later than 9:30 p.m. New visitors register through Smart Communications / SmartInmate, send a connection request to the inmate, submit ID plus a recent photo, obtain facility approval, and schedule at least one day in advance.
| Visit type | Current rule |
|---|---|
| On-site | One visit per person, per inmate, per day. |
| Remote | Unlimited for inmates in general-population housing when scheduled by the user; provider charges apply. |
| Inmate-initiated VOD | Recipient has three minutes to connect; inmate is limited to five attempts per day. |
| Special Housing Unit | Must be scheduled by jail staff; call 806-775-7019. |
Visitors over 17 need accepted government photo identification. One adult visitor is allowed per visit, with up to two children accompanying that adult. The facility prohibits items such as phones, purses, backpacks, food and drinks in the visiting room; lockers require a solid quarter.
Lubbock Uses Different Providers for Messages and Phone Funds
This is an important local distinction. Smart Communications handles MailGuard electronic mail, messages and the visitation connection system. ICSolutions is the Sheriff-listed route for phone-only account funding and blocked-number support.
SmartInmate
Friends and family can create an account and send messages. The Sheriff says inmates receive them as emails through the tablet system; provider credits are required, and some messages can be sent collect/COD by the inmate.
ICSolutions
Fund by card online or call 888-506-8407. Money placed this way is for the phone account only.
Blocked-number help: 866-228-4031. Facility block questions: 806-775-7166 or 806-775-7167.
The current inmate handbook says inmates receive two completed phone calls immediately after booking, but no later than four hours after arrival. Non-privileged inmate phone calls and non-privileged video visits may be recorded.
Money, Commissary, Tablet Funds and Care Packages
For general commissary/tablet/eligible account use, the Sheriff lists cash kiosks and Access Corrections. For phone-only funds, use ICSolutions instead. These balances are not the same as bond money.
| Method | Current Lubbock instruction |
|---|---|
| Detention Center lobby kiosk | Cash can be applied to an inmate account at the main detention-center lobby kiosk. |
| Downtown kiosk | An additional kiosk is available in the Sheriff property-room lobby. |
| Access Corrections | Card funding online or by phone at 866-345-1884. Sheriff facility number: 20172. |
| ICSolutions | Phone-only money; cannot be used for commissary/tablet purposes. |
The current Sheriff FAQ also directs families to Access Securepak for approved inmate care packages. Use the approved vendor instead of mailing a homemade package to the detention center.
Personal Mail Goes to Florida; Legal Mail Goes to Lubbock
Lubbock County uses Smart Communications MailGuard for ordinary personal mail. Letters, postcards and greeting cards are scanned and made available on tablets or housing-unit kiosks. The inmate’s full name and SO number must be clearly printed on the mail.
Inmate’s Name and SO#
P.O. Box 9136
Seminole, FL 33775-9136
Include the sender’s name and return address. The current handbook prohibits loose postage stamps and sexually explicit material.
Inmate’s Name and SO#
P.O. Box 10535
Lubbock, TX 79408
A return address is required. Privileged legal mail should not be sent to the Florida scanning address.
After release, the Sheriff says former inmates can log into SmartInmate using their inmate number and password to download their stored photos, messages and postal mail without charge.
Property Release and Jail Cards
For property belonging to a person currently incarcerated, go to the detention center bond window with valid photo ID. The inmate must approve the release. The Sheriff says property in the valuable-property bag is normally released on an all-or-nothing basis.
For a person being transferred to TDCJ or BOP, the current inmate handbook says the inmate can designate someone to collect remaining property. The designated recipient has 35 days from the notice date to retrieve it before property can be donated.
The Sheriff says you can obtain a copy from the Records Department at the Lubbock County Detention Center.
An open-records request through the Records Department is required.
Medication, Medical and Mental Health Help
The current Sheriff-linked inmate handbook says medical, dental, mental-health and suicide-screening services are available. Medical providers are normally on site three days a week and on call 24 hours for emergencies; nurse calls are available daily and dental call is generally weekly.
Family-provided prescription medication must be approved by medical staff and brought in the original container. The handbook says family-provided medication is distributed without charge once approved. For an urgent issue, the inmate should alert an officer rather than waiting on a routine tablet request.
| Service in current handbook | Listed charge |
|---|---|
| Medical provider or dentist visit | $10 |
| Nurse visit | $5 |
| Prescription medication | $3 each |
| Emergency room / hospital / outside care | Billed by provider |
| Sexual-abuse treatment and prophylaxis | No charge |
PREA, Crisis Lines and Facility Complaints
The current inmate handbook provides confidential internal routes for people in custody. From an inmate telephone, *460 reaches the Lubbock Sheriff PREA reporting line, *210 reaches the Voice of Hope confidential crisis hotline, and *370 reaches the StarCare crisis line.
For a family or public facility concern, the Sheriff lists the jail Sergeant Desk at 806-775-7036. Written complaints can be mailed to P.O. Box 10536, Lubbock, TX 79408, or submitted through the Sheriff contact route.
The Sheriff also points users to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards for complaints that fall within the Commission’s jurisdiction, but the inmate handbook explains that many concerns first require use of the local grievance process.
Jail Records, Booking Records and Sheriff Open Records
The Sheriff asks that open-records requests be made in writing. The current ROI form allows a requester to identify detention/inmate records such as arrest reports, booking/intake records, classification/housing records, disciplinary records, jail logs, grievances, movement/transport records, release/transfer documentation and program-participation records.
| Route | Contact | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| Detention Records | 806-775-7015 | Jail cards and detention-record questions. |
| Open-records email | LCDCRecords@LubbockCounty.gov | Written Sheriff/detention public-information request. |
| Fax | 806-775-7991 | Written records request. |
| USPS | P.O. Box 10536, Lubbock, TX 79408 | Mailed request or written complaint. |
| In person | 712 Broadway, Lubbock, TX 79401 | Sheriff open-records submission. |
If another agency made the arrest, remember that its police report can belong to that agency even though Lubbock County Detention Center handled the booking. Ask for the record from the agency that created it rather than assuming the jail owns every report.
Texas IVSS-Counties, TDCJ and Federal Custody
Texas IVSS-Counties / VINE
Texas provides county offender custody-change and court-event notifications. A September 1, 2026 program transition moved management of Texas IVSS-Counties from the Attorney General to the Governor’s Public Safety Office; the OAG says notification services continue.
TDCJ IVSS
Search by name, SID number or TDCJ number when the person has moved into Texas Department of Criminal Justice custody or supervision.
BOP Inmate Locator
Use for established BOP custody from 1982 to the present. BOP warns that release dates can change as sentences are recalculated.
A blank Lubbock County roster result is not a reason to search random counties. First use the arresting agency, court, warrant, transfer notice or known sentence to identify the correct next system.

Use Lubbock Booking Information Responsibly
- An arrest is not a conviction.
- A jail charge can be changed, dismissed or resolved differently in court.
- A mugshot is not proof of guilt.
- A warrant does not prove current incarceration.
- A bond amount does not guarantee immediate release.
- An old roster screenshot does not prove current custody.
- Phone funds, general inmate-account funds, SmartInmate credits, care-package purchases and bond payments are separate systems.
- Use court records for legal outcomes and the active roster/jail for current county custody.
- Do not use public jail information to harass, threaten, stalk or shame a person.
Lubbock County Jail Roster FAQs
Where is the official Lubbock County jail roster?
Use the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office Active Jail Search. The Sheriff says you can search current inmates by name, booking number or Sheriff’s Office number.
How often does the Lubbock jail search update?
The Sheriff specifically says the Jail Search function in its mobile app updates every half hour. Treat that as the app’s stated refresh interval, not a guarantee that every new booking, bond or release will appear within exactly 30 minutes.
Does the Lubbock County roster show mugshots?
The detention booking process includes mugshots, but the Sheriff’s current Active Jail Search instructions do not promise a public photo for every result. Check the live official record, and use the Sheriff’s open-records process when a separate booking image or intake record is legitimately needed.
When does bond appear for a newly booked Lubbock inmate?
The Sheriff says an inmate can typically bond after seeing a magistrate and that bond settings are added to the online jail roster after they are set. Initial Appearance occurs at least twice daily and sometimes more often.
What are the current Lubbock County visitation hours?
The Sheriff currently lists visitation from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with the last visit beginning no later than 9:30 p.m. Visits must be scheduled through the Smart Communications process at least 24 hours in advance.
Which company handles Lubbock inmate calls and messages?
Smart Communications/SmartInmate handles messages, MailGuard and visit connections. The Sheriff lists ICSolutions for phone-only funding and blocked-number support. These accounts are separate.
How do I send money to a Lubbock County inmate?
Use the detention-center cash kiosk, the additional Sheriff property-room kiosk, or Access Corrections online/by phone for general eligible account funding. The Sheriff lists facility number 20172. ICSolutions funds are phone-only.
Where do I send mail to a Lubbock County inmate?
Ordinary personal mail is scanned through MailGuard and goes to P.O. Box 9136, Seminole, FL 33775-9136 with the inmate’s name and SO number. Legal mail, court documents, bank statements and publications go to P.O. Box 10535, Lubbock, TX 79408.
Which clerk handles a Lubbock criminal case?
The Lubbock County Clerk Criminal Division is the primary misdemeanor-record route, while the Lubbock County District Clerk Criminal Division handles district-court criminal records such as felony cases. City Class C matters may instead belong to Lubbock Municipal Court.
What should I do if someone disappears from the active Lubbock roster?
Verify release or transfer with the detention center, then follow the known case or custody trail. Use Texas IVSS-Counties/VINE for county custody notifications where applicable, TDCJ for state corrections, and the BOP locator for established federal prison custody.
