Outage fallback
If the Tom Green County Roster Will Not Load
The Sheriff has taken the roster offline for system maintenance more than once. Most recently, it announced that maintenance was complete and the roster returned on October 2, 2026.

Court-Appointed Attorney and Public Defender
The detention center does not independently decide who qualifies for appointed counsel. Tom Green County Courts at Law publish a Request for Attorney process, and the county says applicants should provide the applicable financial documentation with the application.

Outstanding warrants
A Tom Green County Warrant Is Not the Same as Current Jail Custody
The Sheriff maintains a separate warrant list. It can display a name, age, warrant date, charge and bond information, but a warrant listing by itself does not prove that the person is currently incarcerated.

Verify through the Warrants Division
The Warrants Division lists regular office hours of 8 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Call 325-655-8111 and ask for a Warrants Deputy when current verification is needed.
Do not attempt an apprehension
The Sheriff specifically tells the public not to attempt to apprehend people listed on its outstanding-warrant list. Use law enforcement or a licensed attorney for an appropriate next step.
Traffic or Class C warrant questions may belong to the Justice of the Peace precinct shown on the citation. City of San Angelo warrants should be addressed through the city rather than automatically through the county jail.
Cash bond, surety bond and release
Confirm Every Charge and Hold Before Paying a Tom Green County Bond
The roster may display bond information, but the live amount and release conditions should still be verified. A person may have more than one charge, a no-bond condition or an outside hold.
Cash Bond
The Sheriff says the full exact amount of a cash bond must be paid. For a cash bond over $5,000, the Sheriff requires a cashier’s check.

When Is a Cash Bond Returned?
The Sheriff says cash-bond money is returned to the defendant after the court case is adjudicated and the judge orders the money returned. Do not promise a refund date or assume that the person who originally supplied the funds automatically receives the refund.

Regular weekday face-to-face visits are assigned by the first letter of the inmate’s last name. The Sheriff currently lists 20-minute visits and separate morning and evening sign-up periods.

Before Entering the Visitation Area
- Bring a valid driver’s license, state-issued ID or military ID.
- People under 17 must be accompanied by an adult and may visit only during evening visitation.
- Keep children within arm’s reach.
- Leave purses, carriers, diaper bags and strollers in the vehicle.
- A visitor with a small child may bring a diaper and bottle under the posted rule.
- No food, drinks, cameras or cell phones are allowed in the visitation area.
- Visitors may be subject to physical search.
- Follow all dress and conduct rules; a visit can be terminated for violations.
Published Dress Restrictions
The Sheriff’s jail page prohibits shorts, sleeveless tops, transparent clothing, spandex or tight form-fitting clothing, skirts or dresses above the knee, and clothing displaying security-threat groups, alcohol, drugs, lewd material or vulgar language.
Out-of-Town Visit Exception
The Sheriff lists possible out-of-town visitation windows of 8–11 a.m., 1–4 p.m. or 6–8 p.m. It also says a person who has previously visited that inmate is not eligible for the out-of-town exception. Call 325-659-6597 before relying on this exception.
Trustee Visits
Kitchen trustees have separately published Saturday procedures, and outside trustees have a separate Sunday procedure. Because trustee status can change, verify the inmate’s current assignment with the facility before using a trustee schedule instead of the regular surname schedule.

Online Video Visitation
The Sheriff directs remote visitors to NCIC. Its current jail page publishes three online-visitation windows every day of the week:

Inmate Telephone Calls
The Sheriff says local calls are free during the booking process and that holding-cell telephones are available for an inmate to contact family or an attorney. The facility describes the holding-cell phones as collect-call phones.
- Keep the receiving phone available after a recent booking.
- Check whether your carrier blocks correctional collect calls.
- Use NCIC support for unwanted-call blocking or technical problems.
- Do not put commissary money into TouchPay when the actual purpose is a communication account.
- Assume ordinary non-privileged jail communications may be monitored.
- Avoid discussing evidence, witnesses or legal strategy on non-privileged communications.
Commissary and approved deposits
Fund the Correct Inmate Account Before the Weekly Cutoff
Tom Green County says commissary orders are processed Monday and delivered Tuesday through Friday. Funds must be on the inmate’s account by 10 p.m. Sunday for the inmate to receive commissary for the coming week.

Personal-Mail Rules Worth Checking Before You Seal the Envelope
- Include the inmate’s name and Sheriff’s Office number.
- Include the sender’s complete return address.
- Paper must be no larger than 8.5 × 11 inches.
- No more than five pages per mailing.
- Write on the front side only.
- No more than one photograph per mailing.
- No magazines, books or bulk mail to the Longview scanning address.
- Do not send legal or medical correspondence to the scanning address.
The Sheriff says ordinary mail is scanned for electronic delivery to the inmate. Original mail is held by the processing center for 30 days for investigation or rescanning needs and then destroyed rather than returned to the sender.
Newspapers
The Sheriff says newspapers should be sent to the physical San Angelo facility with the inmate’s name and SO number.
Medication and medical items
Call the Medical Department Before Bringing Prescription Medication
The Sheriff’s Jail Information page says Shannon Medical Center provides physical health-care services to inmates in the detention facility. Medical and Sheriff staff cannot release confidential inmate medical information to family or friends merely because they call.
Medication Drop-Off
- The inmate must request the medication drop-off.
- The prescription must be current.
- The medication must be in its original container.
- Some medications are not allowed inside the facility.
- Call medical before traveling to confirm the specific medication can be accepted.
- Approved medication is delivered to the information window in the detention-center lobby.

Prescription eyewear may be dropped off at the inmate’s request. The Sheriff’s current instructions exclude tinted lenses and say eyeglass cases are not accepted.

Picking Up Inmate Property or Released Account Money
Personal Property
The inmate may authorize release of personal property during incarceration or after release to another agency. The inmate is responsible for signing the release before departure from the Tom Green County Detention Facility and identifying the approved representative.

- Confirm what property is actually approved for pickup.
- Bring a state-issued photo ID.
- Call before traveling if the inmate has already transferred.

Money From an Inmate Commissary Account
The Sheriff says an inmate may release money from the commissary account to a member of the public once every 30 days. The county recommends calling the Bookkeeper before arrival so you can confirm that the release has been approved.
Texas victim notification update
Use Texas IVSS-Counties Instead of an Old VINE Registration Link
Texas moved its county-level victim-notification system from VINE to Texas IVSS-Counties on September 1, 2025. The service can provide available custody and supported court-event notifications and allows users to choose notification preferences.
There is a second, newer administrative change: beginning September 1, 2026, management of Texas IVSS-Counties moved from the Texas Attorney General’s Office to the Texas Office of the Governor. State guidance says this management transfer did not end the victim notifications or services.

When Tom Green County Is No Longer the Correct Custody System
Texas Department of Criminal Justice
Use TDCJ after a confirmed or plausible transfer into Texas prison or state-jail custody. TDCJ’s inmate search provides state-corrections information and should replace continued county-roster searching after the person enters TDCJ custody.
Federal Bureau of Prisons
Use the federal locator when the case, sentence or transfer is federal. A U.S. Marshal-related hold can involve federal custody even though the person initially appeared in the Tom Green County roster.
Another Texas County
Search another county only when the arresting agency, warrant, court record, transfer information or jail staff gives you a reason to do so. A blank Tom Green County result is not a reason to search every nearby jail.
