Lewis County WA Jail Roster 2026: Inmate Search & Releases

Lewis County, Washington • Chehalis custody, release and jail-service guide

Use the Live Lewis County Roster Before You Post Bail, Visit or Plan a Release Pickup

For current Lewis County Jail custody, begin with the official county roster. Then use the separate Bookings, Completed Releases, court, bail, HomeWAV, JailATM, mail or records source that owns your next question.

The live roster is more than a name list: it can show the inmate number, booking time, arresting agency, court, billing agency, bond type, bond amount, warrant or citation number and charge description. Those are custody fields, not a substitute for the court’s final record.

Official search workflow

How to Search the Lewis County Jail Roster

  1. Open the official roster. Use the Lewis County jail server rather than a copied booking list or commercial mugshot site.
  2. Filter by last name. The roster provides a last-name filter. Try the verified legal surname, then a former or hyphenated name only when you have reason to do so.
  3. Match the inmate number and booking time. Do not rely on a common name alone. Save the displayed Number because it is also used in inmate-mail routing.
  4. Read every charge line. One person can have several arrest agencies, courts, bond labels, warrants/citations and charge descriptions.
  5. Use the court shown by the record. Lewis County District Court, Superior Court or a municipal/other court can control different charges. Do not infer the court solely from the jail name.
  6. Refresh before acting. Recheck the live roster or Completed Releases before posting money, driving for pickup, visiting, mailing or assuming a transfer occurred.
Release notifications: current roster entries include a “Notify on Release” registration option. Use it as a notification aid, but still verify the live roster when timing affects safety, travel or legal obligations.

What Lewis County Roster Fields Mean

FieldWhat it helps answerWhat it does not prove
NumberThe jail identifier tied to the person and used for mail routing. It is not automatically the court cause number or Washington DOC number.
Booked AtWhen the jail recorded the booking. It is the exact arrest or court-filing time.
Arresting AgencyWhich agency is linked to that arrest/hold line. That agency is the court, current custodian or record custodian for every document.
CourtWhich court code is tied to that line. The roster replaces the court docket or hearing notice.
Billing AgencyThe agency connected to the housing/billing line.It owns the underlying criminal case.
Bond Type / AmountThe court-related release label and amount recorded in the jail system.Payment is currently allowed or that no other charge/hold prevents release.
Warrant/Citation #A useful case or warrant/citation reference. It is the only case number connected with the booking.
DescriptionThe allegation, hold or status description in the jail record. The final filed charge, plea, conviction or sentence.

The roster also uses labels such as Cash or Bond, No Bail, Included, Serving Time, Released by Court, Appearance Bond, Transferred to Prison, Amended and Referred. Read the whole booking and verify the controlling court rather than assigning your own legal meaning to one short label.

Three views answer three different timing questions

Recent Bookings, Completed Releases and the Release Calendar

Bookings

Use the Bookings page when a recent arrest has not yet been easy to locate on the main roster. It shows the same type of arrest, court and bond detail for new entries.

Completed Releases

Use this after a name disappears from current custody. The page displays the release time and a “Released To” field; some entries show transfer destinations rather than release to self.

Release Calendar

The roster portal warns that scheduled dates are subject to change and that an asterisk can mean more than one charge. Treat the calendar as planning information, not confirmation that the person has left custody.

Transfer is not freedom from custody. Completed-release data can show a transfer destination. Follow the destination or receiving authority before assuming the person is out of custody.

The court sets bail; the jail accepts it

Cash Bail, Bail Bonds and Refunds

Lewis County Jail accepts bail on behalf of the court with jurisdiction over the charge. The court—not the jail—sets the amount and type.

Cash bail

  • Accepted 24 hours a day.
  • Use the main-lobby kiosk during normal business hours.
  • Use the release-lobby kiosk after business hours.
  • The kiosk accepts $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 bills.

Bail bond

Lewis County publishes a list of bail-bond agencies approved by Lewis County Courts. Verify the correct charge, court and current bond status before contacting a company.

Money posted at the jail is forwarded to the court that ordered bail. Contact that court for refund information.

One bond line may not tell the whole story. A booking can contain several charges, “Included” lines, no-bail matters or other-agency holds. Confirm every line and the controlling court before paying.
Lewis County publishes both general and set release guidance

Release Timing: Use Completed Releases for Confirmation

The roster portal says scheduled release dates can change, staff will not answer questions about future release times, and general releases can range from about 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The jail’s Basic Information page gives more specific processing windows for court/bail/bond releases.

SituationPublished guidance
Released by court/bail/bond after 7:00 a.m.Generally released at 11:00 a.m. or between 3:00–5:00 p.m.
Bond/bail release after 4:30 p.m.Processed for release after 8:00 p.m.
Scheduled release dateSubject to change; do not treat it as a guaranteed pickup time.
Need proof release occurredCheck the Completed Releases tab rather than relying on a future calendar entry.
Planning rule: the inmate can receive their own release information and pass it to family/friends. Confirm the Completed Releases page before a long drive.
The roster can contain more than one court

Lewis County Court Router: District Court vs Superior Court

Lewis County District Court

Law & Justice Center, 3rd Floor
345 W. Main Street
Chehalis, WA 98532
360-740-1203

District Court is a court of limited jurisdiction handling criminal misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors, traffic/non-traffic infractions and other limited-jurisdiction matters. Its current records page links free public case access through re:SearchWA.

District Court Records

Lewis County Superior Court

Law & Justice Center, 4th Floor
345 W. Main Street
Chehalis, WA 98532
360-740-1333

Superior Court is the general-jurisdiction trial court and hears major criminal matters including felonies. The County Clerk is the official Superior Court record keeper and is located on the second floor.

Superior Court / Clerk Records

Do not guess an abbreviation. If a roster line shows a court code you do not recognize, use the warrant/citation/case reference and call the listed court or jail. Municipal and out-of-county matters can also appear.

District Court’s records page currently lists copy fees of $0.25 per page, $5 per certified document and $20 for a USB hearing recording. Recheck the live fee page before ordering.

Warrant handling depends on the issuing court

Warrants and Lewis County District Court Options

Lewis County District Court publishes three options for an outstanding District Court warrant: post cash bail at the clerk’s window, post an out-of-custody bond, or turn yourself in at Lewis County Jail for the matter to be heard the next judicial day.

This District Court procedure does not automatically apply to every Superior Court, municipal, out-of-county or federal warrant. Identify the issuing court before acting.

Safety: do not confront or attempt to detain another person based on a warrant or jail record. Contact law enforcement.
Current dedicated page uses HomeWAV

Lewis County Jail Video Visitation

The dedicated jail visitation page currently uses HomeWAV. The county says new visitor accounts can take up to 72 hours for approval, excluding weekends and holidays, so register before the day you hope to visit.

Visit itemCurrent dedicated-page detail
Web video hoursDaily 8:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m.; last visit begins at 9:40 p.m.
Visitor setupHomeWAV account, photo ID and front-facing photo; account name must match ID.
Offsite fee$0.30 per minute on the current county page.
Free lobby visitCurrent page still publishes one free 15-minute lobby visit per inmate per week, first-come/first-served.
Lobby station hoursMonday–Friday 8:30–11:30 a.m. and 1:30–3:30 p.m., excluding holidays, for eligible users.
Paid visit lengthUp to 20 minutes.
County-page conflict: a separate Lewis County “services available from home” page still says onsite visitation is canceled, while the dedicated jail visitation page publishes current lobby-station rules. Because those pages conflict, use the dedicated visitation page as the first source and call 360-748-9241 before traveling to the lobby.

HomeWAV visitor support is listed as 1-844-394-6639. Visitors under 18 are not allowed in the jail lobby; minors must use the offsite video option where permitted.

HomeWAV phone funds and SmartJailMail messages are separate

Inmate Phone Calls, Email and Photos

HomeWAV phone system

Only inmates may initiate ordinary calls. The county says calls are subject to recording and monitoring.

  • Add phone funds at HomeWAV, at the HomeWAV front-lobby kiosk, or by phone at 314-764-2872.
  • The county lists a $1 fee for adding funds by phone.
  • No minimum is listed; maximum deposit is $250.

SmartJailMail

The jail’s Contacting an Inmate page links SmartJailMail for two-way electronic messages and photo delivery. All content remains subject to facility review and approval.

Do not assume SmartJailMail message/photo funds are the same balance as HomeWAV calls or JailATM commissary.

Attorney communication is different: attorneys can use protected-glass visits, privileged phone arrangements, legal mail and privileged HomeWAV video accounts. Creating a privileged HomeWAV account does not automatically make an attorney phone number privileged; the jail says the number must be confirmed with staff.
Regular mail is scanned in Florida; legal/special mail goes to Chehalis

Use the Correct Lewis County Inmate Mailing Address

Regular personal mail

Lewis County Jail
Inmate Name – ID Number
PO Box 9122
Seminole, FL 33775-9122

Letters, postcards and greeting cards are scanned and made available through inmate kiosks. The jail says the original physical mail is destroyed after electronic processing.

Legal mail and listed exceptions

Lewis County Jail
Inmate Name – ID Number
28 SW Chehalis Ave.
Chehalis, WA 98532

Legal Mail, money orders, court documents, bank statements, books and publications continue to go directly to the facility under current county instructions.

  • Print the inmate name and ID number clearly; mail missing either can be returned.
  • Money-order envelopes should contain only the money order and be marked “MONEY ORDER” on the outside.
  • Personal checks, Polaroids, stickers, glued items, laminated items, hardback books, clothing, stamps/envelopes and unapproved publications are among the items the county says are not accepted.
  • Books/magazines must come from the publisher or a recognized approved bookstore; the county warns that Amazon third-party sellers are not accepted for books.

If mail is returned and you want to appeal, the county says to do so within 10 days by calling 360-740-1344 or emailing LCJail@lewiscountywa.gov.

New commissary system: JailATM

Commissary Deposits and Existing Jail Debt

Lewis County says it has a new commissary vendor and inmate financial system. The current deposit route is JailATM; support is listed at 870-627-5476.

Online deposit

Create a JailATM account, select Washington and the correct facility, search at least three characters of the resident’s last name or use the ID, and review the transaction before sending. The county page lists Visa and MasterCard.

Debt deduction warning

The county says that when an inmate owes medical fees or debt from a previous incarceration, 80% of incoming funds may be taken toward that debt until paid. Remaining account funds at release may also be retained to satisfy a balance.

Do not assume the full deposit will be spendable. Ask the inmate about an existing jail debt because the county says staff will not discuss inmate account information with the public.
Health and safety have separate confidential routes

Medical Care, Mental Health, Medication Drop-Off and PREA

Medical and mental health

The Corrections Bureau currently contracts with NaphCare for inmate medical services and Cascade Mental Health for mental-health counseling and treatment.

The jail specifically says to call Jail Medical before bringing medication. Most outside medication is not accepted automatically; Jail Medical must authorize medication brought into the facility after booking.

PREA reporting

Lewis County Jail publishes a zero-tolerance policy for sexual misconduct. Friends or family can report to the on-duty supervisor; inmates can report to staff, medical/counseling personnel or through internal reporting channels.

Written reports may be sent to: PREA Investigations, 28 SW Chehalis Ave., Chehalis, WA 98532. Call the jail and ask for the on-duty supervisor; call 911 to report an alleged crime requiring emergency response.

Inmate property, evidence and public records are not the same thing

Property Pickup and Records Requests

Inmate property pickup

A county service page directs people picking up inmate property to the jail release lobby and lists 360-740-1344 for questions. Confirm authorization and current pickup procedure before traveling.

Sheriff evidence/property

Evidence or property held by the Sheriff’s Property & Evidence Division is handled separately and requires an appointment. Current contact: 360-740-2699.

Public records

Lewis County uses a web-based Records Center for county public-record requests under Washington’s Public Records Act. The county expressly excludes court records from this general portal; request court case records through the proper court.

Open Lewis County Public Records. For a Superior Court file use the County Clerk; for District Court case records use District Court’s records page.

Use official records, not a mugshot archive

Booking Photos and Mugshot Searches

The current Lewis County roster’s public columns focus on name, inmate number, booking time, arrest/court/bond information and charges; it is not designed as a commercial mugshot gallery. If you need an official booking image or jail record for a lawful purpose, use the appropriate Lewis County public-record process and ask whether that specific record is releasable.

A booking photograph, if released, documents a booking event. It does not prove guilt, conviction or the final outcome of the case.

Follow the transfer destination instead of guessing

Washington DOC, WA VINE and Federal Custody

Washington DOC

Use Washington DOC’s Incarcerated Search when the person has moved into state corrections custody. Search by DOC number or name.

Washington DOC Search

WA VINE

Washington DOC identifies VINE as a statewide automated notification service for custody-status and protection-order changes. Community members may register for automated notifications.

WA notification information

Federal BOP

Use the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator only when a federal sentence or confirmed transfer places the person in BOP custody. A U.S. Marshals or other-agency hold in a county roster does not by itself mean BOP has the person.

Responsible Use of Lewis County Jail Information

  • An arrest, booking, charge or warrant is not a conviction.
  • A “No Bail” or other bond label may change after court action.
  • A Completed Release can represent transfer to another custodian.
  • A scheduled release is not confirmation the person has left the jail.
  • Use court records for the legal outcome and the live roster for county custody.
  • Do not use public jail information for harassment, threats, stalking or public shaming.
  • Do not rely on an old screenshot for a safety, employment, housing or legal decision.
Common Lewis County Washington questions

Lewis County Jail Roster FAQs

Where is the official Lewis County Washington jail roster?

The official current-custody roster is at jail.lewiscountywa.gov/roster.html. It includes the inmate number, booking time and charge-level details such as arresting agency, court, bond type, bond amount and warrant/citation reference.

How do I check a recent Lewis County booking?

Use the separate official Bookings page when the arrest is recent, then compare the inmate number and charge lines with the active roster. If timing is urgent, call Jail Reception at 360-748-9241.

How do I know whether someone was actually released?

Use the Completed Releases page. Lewis County warns that scheduled release dates are subject to change, so a release-calendar entry should not be treated as confirmation that the person has left custody.

Can a Completed Release mean transfer to another jail or prison?

Yes. The current release page includes a “Released To” field and some entries show transfer destinations or agency codes. Follow the receiving authority before assuming the person is no longer in custody.

How do I post cash bail at Lewis County Jail?

Cash bail is accepted 24/7. Use the main-lobby kiosk during normal business hours and the release-lobby kiosk after hours. The current county page says the kiosk accepts $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 bills.

What are the current Lewis County Jail video-visitation hours?

The dedicated county visitation page lists HomeWAV web video visits daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with the final visit starting at 9:40 p.m. Register early because account approval may take up to 72 hours excluding weekends and holidays.

Which company handles inmate phone calls?

Lewis County identifies HomeWAV as the inmate phone provider. Only inmates initiate ordinary calls. The county also uses SmartJailMail for electronic messages/photos and JailATM for commissary deposits, so keep those account purposes separate.

What address should I use for regular inmate mail?

Regular personal mail goes to Lewis County Jail, Inmate Name – ID Number, PO Box 9122, Seminole, FL 33775-9122. Legal mail and listed exceptions such as money orders, court documents, bank statements, books and publications go to 28 SW Chehalis Ave., Chehalis, WA 98532.

Why might only part of a JailATM deposit be spendable?

Lewis County says 80% of incoming funds may be taken toward medical fees or debt from a previous incarceration until the debt is paid. The jail will not discuss inmate-account debt with the public.

When should I search Washington DOC instead of the county roster?

Use Washington DOC when the person has moved into state corrections custody. For current Lewis County Jail custody, bookings and completed releases, continue to use the county jail roster system.
